you try to find answers to these questions with your mind and will only lead to still other questions.

you have to start from within. from experience.

you know to see the soul in a man? it's not something fluffy. just to be aware when a man communicates from his soul. there is a quality of heart energy that makes other human beings/souls open up.
and if you know when the soul speaks, you will know also when others speak instead of the soul. in general, there are only small mental forms that get expressed, or energetic patterns pertaining to the instinctual part: which you may call demons if you want. lust, desire, anger, rage etc
and in some cases, some people are taken by such forces in such a degree that a certain pattern of lower energies is formed, and might be called 'demon'

like the parables of jesus when the soul of somebody asked for help to be let in peace by demons.

through the same mouth the soul and the demons spoke.

through the same ears the soul and the demons was heard.

and when heart is perfectly aligned with throat, the words have power. power to dispel lower energetic patterns that hold the soul.

this is of course something that cannot be achieved by simply meditating upon one's centers or other shortcuts.

it involves one's whole life on the altar of Love and Truth.

and complete acceptance of Divine Will.

in theory is not very complicated. all esoteric theories speak about the Same Reality. so if you want only abstract understanding, you can easily reach a pretty good understanding, by seeing the common essence all these theories have.

on the other hand, you know that for example with yoga or other 'spiritual' techniques people do not get there out of pure yearning for understanding. They are motivated by desire, although that desire gets translated in their mind in more beautiful words that seem to express pure aspirations.

motivations of heart (true love and compassion), motivations of throat (pure yearning for understanding and expressing truth) are made from much subtler substance than gross motivations of lower centers.
but if a drop of gross motivation is mixed with the upper ones, the wine is spoiled.

beat the crap out of that mofo and throw him off the cliffs?!

Great energy or power for most would be a weapon nowadays cause of the lack of wisdom.
