Natural Gas odor all over suburban Indianapolis

Not sure which is worse- pure natural gas blowing up houses or power companies having issues with treated natural gas blowing up houses. If the companies are having issues with the leaks they need to figure what's going on with their pipelines.

On a side note, isn't Indiana on the New Madrid faultline? We've had two small eq's in Kentucky but I don't think that those would've affected Indianapolis considering the distance.

Literally just drove through Indianapolis on I65. Smelled nothing when I stopped for gas. Hmmmmm. I am headung south. Anyone remember that thread about not traveling during these dates?

When you say "smells very strong" - do you mean a rotten egg odor?

they're running around checking all the gas mains all over the city because of this explosion, they probably damaged it while they were checking it for leaks.

I saw they were hosting the entire valve system with a crane as they were checking it, my guess is they will probably damage a few more while they are checking them all.

Yes it's that very distinct natural gas smell, and it's all over now. Just talked to my cousin who is about 4 miles away and its bad there too. The inside of my house even smells now

well, where are you OP? carmel? it prob hasn't cleared out yet, they said it was extra chemical that makes the smell, not the gas itself

Carmel. There were lots of emergency vehicles near the site of the leak, seem to be gone now.
