Salted and tinned are better after rinsing and soaking in vinegar. the fresh stuff grilled (along with mackerel) is just awesome. once again, not for everyone. Could you describe what they taste like at all? Anything to compare the taste? I'm all for trying new things. Meaty, in a fishy kind of way. Just get your hands on some good quality tinned ones. On their own, they can be overpowering. But mixed in with other goodies, they work. If you can appreciate a good scotch, or stinky cheese, your palette should have no issues with good sardines. Or just plug your nose when tryin it :p
