Sadly what most show are that yanks are reckless and quite frankly, dangerous to work with- hence why usa electricians can't legally work here until they go back to tafe to learn the basics

And quite frankly yanks

Whenever those shows actually tread into things I work with every day- I find they either lie outright- or try and and use the `baffle them with bullshitte' techniques.. (probably quite effective in their country sadly)

Sadly when many usa people emigrate to more civilized countries, they find that their much vaulted `university credentials' are not literally even worth the paper they are written on

In fact usa `techs' are almost worldwide recognized as being the most dangerous people to have onsite...

I'd rather a Paki, Indonesian or even (shudders) an Indian (no not one of the red ones from the usa)

All of them can be at least shown the basics of safe work practices... (and usually learn quickly)

(and funnily enough often get more $ per hour than a yank `tech')

A yank on the other hand...

Give him a spade and a shovel and tell him to take his pick...

He'll turn that into his job for the next ten years.....

(and kill someone doing it to boot)

Sadly, the majority are still hypnotized by the TV

I'd disagree- at least locally (well in W.A. and QLD)

They are being let in as floor sweepers if they have a college degree..

But most end up trying to get onto Centrelink benefits, usually 2 days before they get deported

(shows the higher intelligence- Indonesian's can scam the system, while us techs get sent back to the us because they cant figure it out...)

Add that to the many other things they find it difficult to `get'

and I find it quite hard to figure out why they consider themselves `smart'

Most 5 year olds can outsmart their college decreed techs from what I have seen

Re: why the surge in `usa-we are ok' tv shows
Sadly I think it's actually quite simple

They `think' they are smart

In the real world they are actually quite ready to board the shortie bus

From the ones that are actually smart enough to get out of the states- most fall far short of actually being able to earn even a basic living wage in most other countries

We have been being bombarded lately by every `yank' reality tv show they can mass produce- the only thing they all have in common is their basic inability to actually `get' that the almighty $$$ isn't the god they believe in- and that peoples lives are actually worth more than any businesses bottom line

End of story...

And any business that will literally kill people to make dollars- simply isn't worth having around

Hence why us companies rarely exist in any form that any decent person will recognise (or work for) in most of the civilized world

Its what they have been reduced to- `reality tv' `squares eyes- tv good'

`Some people' fall or it (mostly from one country)

Most don't...

Hence the ever rising tide of `anti u.s.' feelings and responces worldwide

Get used to it, its only going to get worse from here on in....
