Imagine that. A junk food company is going out of business in the middle of a trend towards healthier foods. Mohawk Valley experiment really did a number on folks.

well stupid fucking unions are to thank for that

you cannot strong arm a company into paying you what it doesn't fucking have!
 Quoting: ^TrInItY^

Do you know how much the CEO of Hostess earns?

Driscoll was the previous CEO before new CEO Gregory Rayburn.

"In early February, Hostess had asked the bankruptcy judge to approve a sweet new employment deal for Driscoll. Its terms guaranteed him a base annual salary of $1.5 million, plus cash incentives and "long-term incentive" compensation of up to $2 million. If Hostess liquidated or Driscoll were fired without cause, he'd still get severance pay of $1.95 million as long as he honored a noncompete agreement."

I have no sympathy for these people. Idiot Union members standing around outside with signs, holding an already struggling company hostage. Now they can start standing in the unemployment line.

The union members are at fault? Sure about that? Do you know ANYTHING about the upper management of Hostess? Obviously, you know shit...read on...

"Rayburn announced that the pay of the four top executives would go down to $1 for the year, but that their full salaries would be reinstated no later than Jan. 1. Hostess pays Rayburn $125,000 a month, according to court filings. At the same time Rayburn became CEO, Gephardt's son Matthew, 41, the COO of the Gephardt Group, was put on the Hostess board as a $100,000-a-year independent director."

All that will happen is hostess will seel the rights to their brands and recipes to other companies who will then start up making twinkies and so forth again, but this time around the union will have no leverage because the workers will be spread out over dozens of companies.

Do you really think that companies pay their CEOs lots of money just for the sake or writing large checks, or that they hate the blue collar guys?

Are you really that ignorant of economics?

CEOs make that amount of money because not many people can run a company that size. Obviously in the case of hostess the CEO should have been making $0 since the company went bust, but CEOs of profitable companies earn their pay.

At my business the White people refuse to work.

It's the immigrants that will show up early, stay late and bust ass to make sure deadlines are met.

The white employees want to take days off, not show up, come an hour late, leave 5 minutes early, etc...

"... Adam Hanft, a branding strategist behind Hanft Projects, sees the potential for new life in the death of a decades-old company. A fresh owner of the intellectual property, which includes everything from names to recipes to graphics, could revitalize the Hostess brands, which Mr. Hanft sees as weakened but not lacking potential. He raised the prospect of new flavors, limited-edition Twinkies, products co-branded with independent music groups and the potential for an international reach.

"Its nutritional emptiness in the right hands could be its core strength," he said, explaining that a buyer that embraces the brand's "kitschy," "deliciously retro" feel could be rewarded. He foresees a potentially diverse crowd of bidders for the property. ..."

Is your lack of a retort due to just having your ass handed to you?

Again, what's wrong with the workers leveling the playing field? The CEOs can earn their money, but doing so when THEY bankrupted the company, then fucking over the workers by not taking a pay cut is corrupt as fuck.

So now what are all the workers going to do? Unemployed and for what? So stupid, I think at some point the workers should have put an end to it realizing they are going to lose big time.

I feel sorry that they are closing but honestly I don't blame them one bit.

The union intentionally killed Hostess. The union wanted Hostess to liquidate. They're betting some other company will come in and save the day, and they'll get a better deal to boot. This is a tactic the teamsters have used before, destroy the host their feeding off of, and hope a fatter more flush host comes along they can glom onto and start feeding off of.

Wouldn't it be cheaper for them to close and let Hostess die? Then open another entity NotHostess and hire non-union workers as there are SOOO many people without jobs who would be more than happy to work.

These unions are crazy to do this during these times, and the sheeple who follow aren't thinking this through.
