Re: 18,000 workers just lost a job Hostess just called it they will shut down
This has been in the making for 40 years, the economy is not collapsing due to one mans policies, the manufacturing base was not lost in America due to one president. American workers did not become the most spoiled, well paid population in the world overnight, The derivitives market did not reach 650 trillion in a few years, Debt did not overpower GDP due to a presidents decisions. Americans expect to be taken care of by their government, expect sick days, vacation, insurance, holidays off, unemployment insurance, coffee breaks. We are entitled and dillusional. We have no idea how to stop expecting what we have always known and it will be our demise. Hostess is a good expmple today... The unions have destroyed america and we have made this bed we now are being forced to lay in. History is clear, and the refusal of americans to learn history is what will insure our repeating it.

The union should use the Twinkie as their logo fluffy and full of s_it. I hope the union drones are happy being out of work. They don't take the risk that the leadership does and yet gets greedy with their demands and shuts the company down. Brilliant move. Stupidity from the union leadership can be blamed along with their lemming followers. One more group of workers added to the double digit unemployment lines. Obama so loved the poor, he gave us millions more.

Ive lived in a Union town where 70 percent of the people worked for the main factory..

People are hard pressed to give up the lifestyle they were accustomed to. Do you simply downgrade without emotion? Move from the nice middle class home to the trailer? Give back your newer car to the dealership? and buy a 10 year used?

Sadly, there will be a lot of divorces thru this..

I guess they took a gamble. The current American wages for their skills is at half of what they made prior if they are lucky..

Even if you could get back the 56,000 factories closed since 2001, I doubt you could find enough people to work in them. The gen xers, and millineum gen are opposed to hard work or manual labor. Getting sweaty is not their idea of a good job. Degrees in Liberal arts and Buisness, we were told to go to college and get a good job so that we did not have to work as hard as our parents and grandparents did. That is why we have no farmers, no innovation. The last thing america invented was Spanks. Our number one export is Trash, number two is the dollar. We have off-shored our manufacturing base, we have allowed the idustrial centers to collapse and rust, the UAW and Teamsters insured that big buisness would leave this country as it is impossible to pay the labor here. We score at the bottom of the industrial world in Math, Science, and history. We have 4.8% of the world population and 25% of the world prisoners... free labor! Wake up people this is the end of Empire.

Yeah, wouldn't want the assembly line scrubs making a decent wage, eh fuckstick?

What's wrong with leveling the playing field? That's what the unions try to do. Do you want rampant, unchecked corporate CEOs?

What if a government were run the same way --- unchecked?

Well, well, well, it turns out that 'the management' are Democrats.

Ripplewood's foray into Hostess was partly enabled by Collins's connections in the Democratic Party. He wanted to explore deals with union-involved companies and sought the help of former congressman Gephardt, who in 2005 founded the Gephardt Group, an Atlanta consulting firm that provides "labor advisory services." In his 2004 presidential bid, Gephardt -- whose father was a Teamsters milk truck driver -- was endorsed by 21 of the largest U.S. labor unions; in 2003, Collins was one of 19 "founding members" of Gephardt's New York State leadership committee. (Today, Ripplewood and Hostess are listed online as major clients of Gephardt's consulting group, which is also an equity owner of Hostess.) Back when Hostess was coming out of the first bankruptcy, Gephardt's credibility with both Ripplewood and the Teamsters gave them each a little more room to break bread.

I know a lot of young people, esp women that expect the 300 -400,000 dollar plus home right at the start along with the expensive diamond ring and the 20,000 dollar wedding and then the 10,000 dollar honeymoon.

Our eyes are too big for our stomach. Young people want it all now.

I even knew a young person that had to have the new PT cruiser when it came out. She used it and ragged out the life of the car for pizza delivery out of all things, while going to school, probaly for her liberal arts degree, lol

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha I love it everytime a union job is lost. Unions are full of knuckledraggers and have outlived their time. When I buy a new car at the begining of the year it won't be a US union made car.

I hope I am wrong, but this just may be the start of the domino effect for businesses. With additional taxes, unions and Obamacare, more companies will find it financially impossible to continue. More company layoffs and closures.

And these unemployed sheep will continue to vote for morons like Obama, and whine for their fair share from their daddy the government.

Here's another reason cited for the lack of money, which I find very interesting since they cite the rise in prices, which is INFLATION because of the money printing, something that democrats flat out refuse to acknowledge. Inflation? What inflation?
From the zh article cited above:

and the prices of the commodities that Hostess relied on -- corn, sugar, flour -- went up, which is the opposite of what's supposed to happen in a downturn.

Didn't buy their products too often, as it's not the healthiest food to eat.

But at times, when there was a sale, I would pick up the Hostess Golden Cupcakes.

I suppose I will have to substitute with Little Debbie products, but they are not the same.

Anybody remember Twinkie the Kid?

Just hired by this company yesterday. LOL guess not

The issue is an 8% pay cut that would be paid back over a 3 year period.

Union leaders thought they were calling hostess's bluff.

Union dumbfucks will make 50% of their wages on unemployment. And nothing after that.

Is 8% really worth all that trouble?
