This appears to follow the guidelines of World Health Organization (WHO) branch of the United Nations (UN) and it would be interesting to see if any part of the license fee goes to the WHO.

Hmmmm... lets see. The Thugs in Charge put flouride in our drinking water, aspartame in our soft drinks, God knows what in our GMO food, aerial spraying of toxins, I mean they poison us in soooo many ways, and now we are led to believe that they care about our health and smoking? Sure they are. They have stumbled across something regarding smoking, either a benefit, or a counter action to their poisoning, and they want to put an end to it. One thing for damn sure- they could care less about anyone's health.

A license for Alcohol, license for buying fast food, a license for... Once it starts, no telling where it will stop.
 Quoting: AxE

This may be a bit off topic, but they're even dictating who can or cannot HAVE a license.

I just received a notice that unless I have a physical and get a DOT health card, I will be losing my CDL license when it's up for renewal.

I realize if you have a job driving semi you DO need a DOT medical card, but I'm not currently employed as a truck driver.

So, unless I pay out the money for a physical and everything else to get the DOT medical card AND keep it up to date, they will be taking away my CDL license.

As far as I'm concerned, they can take that license and stick it where the sun don't shine. There's no way I'm going to throw away money on unnecessary medical expenses, especially when money is as tight as it is nowadays with the economy and all. God willing, I won't need that CDL in the future.

Re: Marijuana Smoke not as damaging to lungs as cigarette smoke
"A common myth about smoking assert that the lungs of smokers become
brown or even black from years of accumulation of tars and goo. Not
true, according to Wray Kephart. Mr. Kephart presently works as an
engineer but he previously worked in a hospital, performing autopsies,
most of which were paid for by insurance companies, seeking to determine
whether the deceased committed suicide, or died from "natural causes".
Kephart tells me that he's done approximately 1560 autopsies, and he's
seen some strange things, such as the lungs of auto painters, which were
"effectively sealed with catalyzed lacquers"."
www.lcolby.com/b-chap7.htm

"A common idea, amongst smokers and non-smokers alike, is that smoking
causes tar deposits in the lungs. These tar deposits supposedly build
up and cause the lungs to turn black, and it is believed that these
tars lead to lung cancer,[1] and Cancer Research UK says of tar ďa
sticky black residue made up of thousands of chemicals that stays
in the smokerís lungs and causes cancer.Ē However, it does not take
much logical thought, and science, to realise this not only isnít
true, but canít be true. The idea that smoking causes black lungs
is no more than a myth, and the evidence for this is plentiful."
[link to www.smokescreens.org]

"Smoking and health have been the subject of argument since tobacco
was introduced to Europe in the sixteenth century. King James I was
a pioneer antismoker. In 1604 he declared that smoking was "a custome
lothsome to the eye, hatefull to the Nose, harmefull to the braine,
dangerous to the Lungs, and in the blacke stinking fume thereof,
neerest resembling the horrible Stigian smoke of the pit that is
bottomelesse." But like many a politician since, he decided that
taxing tobacco was a more sensible option than banning it.

"Edgar Cayce, a famous psychic healer, recommended smoking four to six
all-tobacco cigarettes each day for people who suffer from asthma. A
member of the alt.smokers discussion group, Charlotte Roneus, is an
asthma sufferer and she finds that smoking cigarettes soothes her lungs
and relieves the attacks. It has been known for centuries that smoking
is a remedy for a cough or bad throat, and whilst many smokers abstain
from smoking whilst they have an illness, those who do smoke with a sore
throat often notice it feels better."

Yeah, how about that?

I think it's great.

There is nothing more disgusting that trying to enjoy yourself at a restaurant or bar or park and some shithead next to you is frantically puffing on a cig.

Women that smoke are a major turn off too. So are tramp stamps, and the 2 usually go hand in hand.

The next ban that will piss the OP off is the proposed masturbation bill that the right wingers are working on now.

They want to tax you for every ounce of semen you do not make a baby with.

Don't let it hit the floor! There's a fine for that, too.

YEP! and well i know it!!! i figure it's stupid to allow the constant drain on my personal energy with the 'compromise' thinking, when i KNOW it is crap! if i let myself 'compromise' in my head, it creates a neural pathway to allow other types of 'compromise' thinking, insidious and ultimately degrading to all of the values of health, well being, care for the planet, everything.

i quit cold turkey for 20 years, smoked now for like 3.5, i have the step one nic patches but i'm like SCREW IT, i can do this! got my netflix streaming and a week vacation.

thanks for the support!

 Quoting: ^TrInItY^

Wow... Liberal really means something completely differnet in your country..
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27824363

This is a deep issue.

American English has twisted the meaning of "liberal" from a person who values freedom and liberty to Socialist / communist. This Orwellian doublespeak has created a generation of Americans that can not comprehend the history they read. (not that 98% will open a book other than those provided by the government school).

An actual conspiracy being discussed on GLP !!!

It is about money also it is just an updated version of taxation in our filing economy where the global and local governments are attempting to bamboozle the people.
