natural tobacco on its own isn't that bad for you.

what makes it bad is the phosphate based fertilizers they use to increase yields. these phosphate based fertilizers come with some bonuses - cadmium, lead, and uranium. guess what happens when you smoke something containing cadmium, lead, and uranium?

i'm not even getting into the chemicals they add to the tobacco or the paper.
 Quoting: The Gallows
Try Native cigs, no chemicals and about $3.50 a pack, $34 a carton.
As far as a smart card ceegar
First, the word ridiculous comes to mind.

Im trying to quit myself, Its not easy, Im not for this smart card, but probably would quit if it happens. The medical industry doesnt give a chit about us, Only money, so Im assuming this would be more $ for these parasites. I dont support parasites, So Id look at the bright side and quit.

Well, considering all the taxes which are paid on cigarettes, those of us who still smoke should be hailed as HEROES instead of pariahs. Cigarette taxes support half the cockamamie ideas these ding-dongs come up with. Don't believe it? In the mid-60's, a pack of cigs FROM A MACHINE cost a quarter. Yup, 25 cents, and it came with a pack of matches under the wrapper. Cartons were $2.00 (or less if they were "on sale". When is the last time that you saw cigarettes "on sale"?). Yesterday I paid $51.00 for a carton of cigs. From $2 to $51? Even inflation doesn't cover THAT much of a jump!!

Black market cigarettes are a 50 billion dollar a year industry and the number 10 largest black market item in the world.

Looks like the government wants to increase the black market trade because that exactly what this would do.

great, let's all join on the self righteous bandwagon to pass laws micromanaging other people's behavior

Using that logic, I say let's have licenses for greasy food and extra large sugary soft drinks too, big boxes of cookies and chips should be rationed.

Hell, I don't eat any of that stuff, never did...why should I have to subsidize their heart attacks and clogged arteries?

I go into the supermarket and see some real fat orcas with their carts loaded with junk food...

Using your logic, I know they want to stop eating and wish they could, but they just can't. Therefore, let's introduce food regulations to force them to change

So how about if DC starts passing laws making it illegal to buy more than 2 boxes of mallomars or more than 1 triple cheeseburger a day, and fines for parents feeding that shit to their children

Those types of food are pure junk, we gotta protect people from overdosing on it...esp with national health care.

Why should I pay for someone else's food addiction, right?

Seriously, this is ALL a goddamned slippery slope...first cigarettes, next alcohol, next high fat and high sodium food until were all living on soylent green pills

It won't be long until 1/2 the population monitors the other half for smoking or lighting a match, or using a sharp knife , or putting too much salt on their food or eating too much. Probably limits on sex and masturbation to be in place.

This used to be a damn good country. WTF happened?

I do know that an underground market for cigarettes will soon form. Gangs, murder, extortion, smuggling and on and on.

Re: Marijuana Smoke not as damaging to lungs as cigarette smoke
"A common myth about smoking assert that the lungs of smokers become
brown or even black from years of accumulation of tars and goo. Not
true, according to Wray Kephart. Mr. Kephart presently works as an
engineer but he previously worked in a hospital, performing autopsies,
most of which were paid for by insurance companies, seeking to determine
whether the deceased committed suicide, or died from "natural causes".
Kephart tells me that he's done approximately 1560 autopsies, and he's
seen some strange things, such as the lungs of auto painters, which were
"effectively sealed with catalyzed lacquers"."
www.lcolby.com/b-chap7.htm

"A common idea, amongst smokers and non-smokers alike, is that smoking
causes tar deposits in the lungs. These tar deposits supposedly build
up and cause the lungs to turn black, and it is believed that these
tars lead to lung cancer,[1] and Cancer Research UK says of tar “a
sticky black residue made up of thousands of chemicals that stays
in the smoker’s lungs and causes cancer.” However, it does not take
much logical thought, and science, to realise this not only isn’t
true, but can’t be true. The idea that smoking causes black lungs
is no more than a myth, and the evidence for this is plentiful."
[link to www.smokescreens.org]

"Smoking and health have been the subject of argument since tobacco
was introduced to Europe in the sixteenth century. King James I was
a pioneer antismoker. In 1604 he declared that smoking was "a custome
lothsome to the eye, hatefull to the Nose, harmefull to the braine,
dangerous to the Lungs, and in the blacke stinking fume thereof,
neerest resembling the horrible Stigian smoke of the pit that is
bottomelesse." But like many a politician since, he decided that
taxing tobacco was a more sensible option than banning it.

"Edgar Cayce, a famous psychic healer, recommended smoking four to six
all-tobacco cigarettes each day for people who suffer from asthma. A
member of the alt.smokers discussion group, Charlotte Roneus, is an
asthma sufferer and she finds that smoking cigarettes soothes her lungs
and relieves the attacks. It has been known for centuries that smoking
is a remedy for a cough or bad throat, and whilst many smokers abstain
from smoking whilst they have an illness, those who do smoke with a sore
throat often notice it feels better."

Been running this whole thing through my head all day. The cigarette company’s want this to happen so why. They are hoping to get more and more people on to Vaping, lot more profit in it than paying the farmer, cultivating the product adding all the fake ingredients then production and packaging. Instead they sell you a piece of plastic you reuse and mas produce the flavored vegetable glycerin and sell you tiny amounts at a very inflated price.

Now that would leave them with more tobacco to export that they can sell out fo country with a higher profit margin, realize what they sell in the states vs. what is sold in let’s say Africa is a very different product and much cheaper to produce for them also, there by raising profits on two separate levels for them.

When it comes to black market the big companies love it, remember the little town of Whiteclay Nebraska where the population is 10 people, yet the 4 liquor stores in town sell over $500million in beer every year because the Indian reservation that is just across the state border is officially dry. Nebraska State loves the tax revenue they are talking from the South Dakota reservation and the beer companies are making a killing delivering to one tiny town. You’ll create that same situation with cigarettes, people will be bringing them from places that do not enact these “laws” and marking up the prices, it will acutely drive sales. When you tell someone not to do something they tend to do it after all.
I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw.

We must all realize a sink a chair and a pillow are all luxuries of home and a soldiers helmet takes the place of all three.

This is an attempt to eventually regulate your bodies, which they think they own, totally.

You will need a license to eat the "healthy natural" (read GMO poison mutant) foods they choose for you.

You will need a license to breathe.

You will need a license to drink water.

You will need to be licensed to walk down the street that they choose to allow you to walk down.

You will be more licensed than your dogs if this floats on by. But by then you won't be allowed to have a dog, because you will be theirs.

You will need a license to live. Otherwise you will be taken away and euthanized.

People need to shake off the fluoride haze and brainwashing and wake the eff up. And it is possible to wake up.

No matter how "bad" you've been made to think smoking is for you, it's nowhere as near as bad as submitting to total control by the fascist state.

2-As if the taxes we pay on the damn things arent already enough, this is jsut to get even MORE money from smokers.

great theory, actually

Years ago my older sister worked in marketing for Phillip Morris...this was around 1990. I remember her saying the CEO was shitting himself over the mere prospect of selling cigarettes in China...and China wasn't even officially "open" to multinationals yet, but they could see what was coming

They saw a country where if they got even 1/10th the population, it would be worth 5x the US market for cigarettes, without all the hassles and regulations

They make money coming and going...and btw, that CEO was a big supporter of Bill Clinton and the democrats, so as far as I can see, the party isn't above taking money from those evil manufacturers of cancer sticks...

it's never the corps who get punished, just the citizens

I don't smoke, but if I had to support a nicotine habit, I would sure give my business to to the cigarettes sold on native reservations...screw the middlemen and tax vultures

Smokers create a protective coating of mucus on the inside of their lungs. This layer blocks inhaled particles from entering the tissue.

What particles, how are they delivered and who wants them in your body should be obvious by now.

^ YES. Like most info given out to the masses. I do think however that all the poison additives in commercial cigs just adds to the toxic crap all of humanity is increasingly exposed to. Pure rolled tobacco or a brand like American Spirit are solid choices ^^
