I am about to go to the store now and stock up on meat, egg and milk products .. I have enough for about a year .. but those things (dry milk I have) I don't ..

And just for clarification, I am a Paramedic, which means I am the most highly trained and HIGHEST PAID member of the ambulance, so consider that the EMT-Basic, who has the same level of dedication and puts up with the same thankless public, gets paid 2/3'rds of what I do.

And most of these fuckers here don't realize, most paramedics. NREMT paramedics with two years of training and education, ACLS, PALS, etc. Don't make shit! Unless they are with fire service.

I just made some calls. It must be areas affected by Sandy. There are so many homeless... maybe this is someone's idea of preventing fraud and verifying EBT cardholder's living arrangements. You realize don't you that to qualify for foodstamps you need to have a verifiable residence with cooking facilities???

Either you have a large family to feed or your state allows high income. 56k/year is high in the south, though barely enough in the north. What state are you from?

I live a short drive from one of the worst cities in my state .. My husband was at home depot the recently with our work truck and left his giant sized partner in the truck with it running .. this kid on a bike starts backpacking tools out of the back .. his partner got out, like get moving dumb ass .. and this lil old white lady pulled out a pistol on the kid and told him to haul ass .. and said don't go shopping in this city without one of these ..

.. and it's true .. I won't even stop for gas in parts of the city ..

I think I will go to my town market to be safe, even if the food is double the price ..

If it stays down through Thanksgiving there will be full on riots and that is a conservative estimate.

This is why I think it is hilarious that you people always rattle about removing foodstamp benefit. You really want millions of people around you starving with nothing left to lose? Now, the govt. should force people to work on civil projects if they are unemployed and getting benefits, but to remove them completely WILL result in panic and anarchy.

This is the cost of the govt. and the rich robbing us of all the land and opportunity. You do not own land in this country, the govt. leases every piece of land in the form of property taxes and they will usurp the land if they are not paid. Yet, rubes like all you diehard conservatives continue to support this system because you have risen just high enough to keep your head up to look down your nose at your neighbors.

The rest of us not using EBT should stock up now because things could get much much worse in a day or two and we would need to avoid going out during the rioting.

Right now, many will be mad, but assume it will be back up by tomorrow. Once it is realized it isn't is when it will be too dangerous to go in a grocery store.

I can see that after 5 days you might have someone come and attack you in the parking lot to get your grocery bags or worse yet follow you home.

Actually I can not, when really looking at all the details of a job it requires two arms to do the work. I have looked at everything the past month and nothing in my area I can do with one arm. Its sad I have thought about a ton of jobs recently and I cannot do anything with the pace a company would want with one arm.
