What state are you from? Quoting: preacher101 Shit - if I had a 56k job and wife/2 kids I would not qualify for food stamps at all. See - you are livin high off the hog there bud! I said I work 56 HOURS a week, nowhere near 56k bud, the point being I work my ass off protecting your grandma that you have thoughtlessly shoved in a nursing home so you can forget about her and avoid your familial duties while you chase your "American Dream" preacher |

I was going to get my EBT card today because I was diagnosed with parsonage turner syndrome and cannot work anymore because it effected my left arm rendering it useless. Cannot move it, bend it lift it or anything, cannot even button my own shirts or tie my shoes anymore. I am only 27 but worked since I was 17 with my hands in the trades, real kick in the balls this was I am just lucky it is my left arm and not my right as I am right handed. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7715336 GL to ya op and all others disabled on here. You could still work at a customer service center with one arm. Actually I can not, when really looking at all the details of a job it requires two arms to do the work. I have looked at everything the past month and nothing in my area I can do with one arm. Its sad I have thought about a ton of jobs recently and I cannot do anything with the pace a company would want with one arm. Thats what the ADA Act is for - employers make accomidations for you. |

Quoting: Lisa*Lisa I don't know. I am planting a huge garden this spring tho. Got a used garden tiller off craigslist a few months ago. Hi Lisa, My sister raises chickens and does not give them feed for most of the year (they are free range and eat lots of bugs and green things). She also does not vaccine them - there's a good reason behind that but I can't remember exactly what it was - I think it had to do with encouraging their own immunity, making them stronger birds. |

Miggy User ID: 8207605 United States 11/16/2012 01:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | To anyone with EBT who might have to go the weekend without food, I would like to share something with you and I hope it doesn't upset you. I was expecting to get my EBT allotment last Friday- exactly 1 week ago, today. It was a good thing, too, because I had no food left. When I got to the cashier with 18 dollars of groceries I was told that my EBT card said I only had 80 cents left on it. Needless to say it was pretty humiliating watching the people in line watch ME, but I apologized to the cashier for inconveniencing her, offered to go put the bagged groceries back on the shelves where I got them, and then left the store. Well, it was 5 PM and the local office had closed and since Monday was a legal holiday I knew I wouldn't possibly be resolving the problem until Tuesday when they re-opened. I am a Christian and Christ's teachings (along with other stories in the bible, such as the Exodus) came in handy to get me through those 4 days (Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon). A few of the stories/verses I relied on the most: "Give us this day our daily bread" The Israelites journeying into their promised land for 40 years, only having God's gift of Manna delivered to them each morning for food" Christ's feeding the multitudes with only a few fish and loaves. "Deliver us from Temptation" "Love thy neighbor as thyself" Daniel's Fast I tell you this because I hope you will look to God for strength in hard times such as these. It's scary to go without food and water. But I asked my neighbor for a couple of slices of bread and I had a couple of eggs and butter. I also had some saltine crackers. I prayed that God use the little I had to sustain me and allow me to not feel weak from hunger and He did. He will do this for you, too, if you ask. I know you won't like hearing this but it truly works. If you ask He will provide this miracle for you, too. I hope the EBT goes up soon for all of you but I am an example of this happening last weekend and I survived it. Keep your chin up, friends. These rough times are just beginning and yet we are at the end. Love each other, look to Christ for the answer and have faith in God who Loves you. In Christ, Miggy |

If you research it closely you will find that those are hand gun rounds. Do you know why that matters? 176,000 rounds are .308, OTM (open tip match) and I remember in the contract, 'must be delivered in 30 days'. DHS can also use their own private weapons. That's what a DHS agent told me at the range. His weapon of choice was a scoped AK-47. It's going to get ugly for all of us.... |

The ADA Act... is a conspiracy in itself. Nothing like trying to force a disabled individual to compete with all the able bodied individuals who are unemployed. Although... I have known disabled people who can do alot better job than some of the incompetent schmucks already out there... through sheer determination alone. I just think it's ridiculous to expect them to WANT to work... or insist that they DO work... and lay phukken guilt trips on them if they DON'T. It should be a matter of CHOICE... not something shoved down someone's throat 'cause you resent them being supported by your tax dollars. |

I have been there. I never received any food stamps though. In fact, it never even occurred to me to apply. Guess it was my pride. I also will concede if I had children I may have felt differently. I don't know. I just worked my tail off to keep my rent paid and electricity turned on. What was left over I bought dry beans and brown rice. I had rice and beans for breakfast and lunch and beans and rice for dinner. Thank goodness I finished my education and I am now in a better place. I am thankful for everything I have and I am proud I worked very hard and earned all of it. I may sound callous to others, but unless someone is elderly or truly disabled, I do think you are lazy if you rely on the government to take care of you. It may be hard and you may not get to eat everything you want and you may not have all the toys you want, but you can take care of yourself with a little initiative |
