Re: ROUBINI: Perfect Storm Or Not, 2013 Looks Awful!!!
Economist and NYU professor Nouriel Roubini gave an interview with Bloomberg in Turkey to discuss the fiscal cliff and his global economic outlook.

He has a particularly bleak global outlook and, although it is not his most likely scenario, believes there is a chance that an economic perfect storm might devastate the global economy in 2013:

The perfect storm is not my baseline scenario. My baseline scenario is one of low economic growth in advanced economies and recession in some of them, like the euro zone, like the U.K., like Japan but not recession in the U.S., slower economic growth in emerging markets; that’s the baseline.

But there could be a situation in which you could have a perfect storm that would happen if there is a fiscal cliff in the United States that tips the US into a recession, if the euro zone crisis gets worse and there is an exit of Greece that is disorderly, if the landing of China becomes a hard landing of China, and four, if we really had a war in the Middle East between Israel and Iran and oil prices go to $200/barrel.

Roubini is most concerned about conditions in the euro zone. He says that the latest data indicates that the E.U. has gone into a double-dip recession, and projects that nations on the periphery of the E.U. (Italy, Spain, Cyprus, etc.) will remain in recession throughout 2013 and beyond. He cites an overvalued euro, front-loaded fiscal austerity, a credit crunch by banks, and low business and consumer confidence as the basis of his pessimism. He does, however, see a “ray of hope” in the sense that Europeans are realizing the severity of their problems and are moving more aggressively to address them.

Mars enters Capricorn now, on November 16 or 17, depending on where you are. This is a very important ingress. As discussed before, it has a historical correlation to an escalation of military threats in the Middle East involving Israel. If you have been watching the news, you know this has already begun. As Friday’s Wall Street Journal reported, “Israel pounded the Gaza Strip with planes and artillery for a second straight day and began mobilizing tens of thousands of troops, while Palestinian militants mounted their deepest-ever missile strikes into the heart of Israel.” As Mars approaches Pluto and forms a square to Uranus November 22-27, this dangerous and explosive situation could erupt the closer we get to that time band. And it may involve other areas too, besides the Middle East. [link to www.mmacycles.com]

The entire global economy is in a deep depression - a collapse, actually. The only job of 'the authorities' and their propaganda outlets is to manage the public perception of what is the total collapse of their system with no recovery possible. In other words, trying to stave off guillotine recompense.

A new order is emerging - but it doesn't include the vast majority of those who hold public positions of 'authority' today. They're all scared shitless.

Perfect Storm? Unless your idea of a perfect storm is one created by HAARP, this is ignorant.

Securitization, unregulated collateral based credit markets, dirivatives, creating and exploiting risk, etc. is a few of the main components of a financial system specifically designed to bankrupt the globe.

Our financial markets are functioning perfectly as designed. We are in a depression that will ultimately be far worse than its pilot program of 1929.

there is the choice to take more than you give and the choice to share equally.

taking more than you give is the default choice.

all that the winners of that choice have done is to keep doing it.

it's like chopping down trees faster than they regrow to sustain your existence.

or to keep doing the same thing over again.

once you run out...it becomes impossible to sustain existence any longer.

and while the supply of trees lasts...they get better an better at taking more an more.

that is all any absolute capitalist system can do.

it's what you all try to do to sustain your existence.

The choice is what dictates the purpose of the system.

and you all supply the demand for power until you can't and the system collapses.

Luisport, I have to be honest, I just have to disagree with Roubini. The USA never came out of the Recession of 2008, which was in fact a depression.

Furthermore, by all measures, virtually every action Bush, Obama, Bernanke, Geithner, and others at the 'top' have taken has only worsened the situation.

Matters are far more dire on the economic front, I went to a high school basketball game last night and the snack stand was empty through all three games. They had 15 minute intermissions between games and no one, not a single person went to the stand during one of those intermissions.

I see parents struggling that were not struggling before. So, to be frank, Roubini is full of shit. He's an economist which is nothing more than a sociologist with better math skills.
