The Zombieland Twinkie: WAS NOT A 'TWINKIE!!!!'
"I'm not a Twinkie lover. I don't do sugar or dairy either. When we finally shot my Twinkie-eating scene in the movie, they had to give me a specially made mock Twinkie made of corn meal. It could spur a healthy Twinkie revolution."

sorry, kids. if you knew woody's political views, you'd have figured this out sooner.

...let's hope it does, woody, let's hope it does.

more on woody's views:

He told Playboy in October 2009, "I was getting into theology and studying the roots of the Bible, but then I started to discover the man-made nature of it. I started seeing things that made me ask, 'Is God really speaking through this instrument?' ... My eyes opened to the reality of the Bible being just a document to control people. At the time I was a real mama's boy and deeply mesmerized by the church."

Advocacy work
Woody Harrelson in 2004
Drug reform/green industry

Harrelson is an enthusiast and supporter for the legalization of marijuana and hemp, but does not consider himself to be an activist for that cause.[23][24] Harrelson was a guest on Ziggy Marley's track "Wild And Free", a song advocating the growing of cannabis. Since 2003, Harrelson serves as a member on NORML's advisory board.[25]
Environmental

Harrelson is also an environmental activist. He has attended environmental events such as the PICNIC'07 festival that was held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, for three days in September 2007.[26] PICNIC describes its annual festival as "three intensive days [when] we mix creativity, science, technology, media and business to explore new solutions in the spirit of co-creation".[27] He once scaled the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco with members of North Coast Earth First! group to unfurl a banner that read, "Hurwitz, Aren't ancient redwoods more precious than gold?" in protest of Maxxam Inc/PALCO CEO Charles Hurwitz, who once stated, "He who has the gold, makes the rules."[28]

He once traveled to the west coast in the U.S. on a bike and a domino caravan with a hemp oil-fueled biodiesel bus with The Spitfire Agency (the subject of the independent documentary, Go Further) and narrated the documentary Grass. Harrelson briefly owned an oxygen bar in West Hollywood called "O2". He is a peace activist, and has often spoken publicly against the 2003 invasion of Iraq. In October 2009, he was conferred an honorary degree by York University for his contributions in the fields of environmental education, sustainability, and activism.[29]
Veganism

Harrelson is also an ethical vegan and raw foodist.[30][31]

"I was on a bus and some girl sees me blowing my nose," Harrelson is saying of his early years trying to make it as an actor in New York. "I had acne all over my face, which I'd had for years and years. And she's like: 'Hey, you're lactose intolerant. If you quit dairy, all these symptoms you got will be gone in three days.' I was like twenty-four. And I was like, No way. But three days later: gone.[30]

Along with not eating meat or dairy, Harrelson also does not eat sugar or flour.[30] He did not eat Twinkies for his movie Zombieland, replacing them with vegan faux-Twinkies made from cornmeal.[32]

He appeared on postage stamps issued in 2011 as one of PETA's 20 famous vegetarians,[33] and he was named PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian in 2012 (along with Jessica Chastain).[34]
UNICEF

In June 2010, Harrelson took part in Soccer Aid at Old Trafford to raise money for UNICEF. Harrelson played for the "Rest of the World" team, playing in the last 15 minutes, and scored the winning kick in the penalty shootout following a 2–2 draw during normal time.[35] He also played in the UNICEF game 2012, playing the last 10 minutes of the game for the "Rest of the World team", losing 3-1 to England.
Political views

Harrelson is a supporter of the 9/11 truth movement and has supported reopening an investigation into the September 11 terrorist attacks.[36] Along with other "truthers," like Martin Sheen and Ed Asner, he will be appearing in a movie, September Morn, that will reflect such concerns.[37][38]

the 'Twinkie Defense:'

The phrase "Twinkie defense" comes from Twinkies, a food product high in sugar.

"Twinkie defense" is a derisive label for an improbable legal defense. It is not a recognized legal defense in jurisprudence, but a catchall term coined by reporters during their coverage of the trial of defendant Dan White for the murders of San Francisco city supervisor Harvey Milk and mayor George Moscone. White's defense was that he suffered diminished capacity as a result of his depression. His change in diet from healthy food to Twinkies and other sugary food was said to be a symptom of depression. Contrary to common belief, White's attorneys did not argue that the Twinkies were the cause of White's actions, but that their consumption was symptomatic of his underlying depression. White was convicted of voluntary manslaughter.

Re: The Zombieland Twinkie: WAS NOT A 'TWINKIE!!!!'
it's wasn't the unions that killed the ding dong, it was congress!

[link to www.csmonitor.com]

Since 1934, Congress has supported tariffs that benefit primarily a few handful of powerful Florida families while forcing US confectioners to pay nearly twice the global market price for sugar.

One telling event: When Hostess had to cut costs to stay in business, it picked unions, not the sugar lobby, to fight.

“These large sugar growers ... are a notoriously powerful lobbying interest in Washington,” writes Chris Edwards of the Cato Institute in a 2007 report. “Federal supply restrictions have given them monopoly power, and they protect that power by becoming important supporters of presidents, governors, and many members of Congress.”

Such power has been good for business in the important swing state of Florida, but it has punished manufacturers who rely on sugar in other parts of the United States, the Commerce Department said in a 2006 report on the impact of sugar prices.
