severe Problems with communication sattelites wtf

Type in massive solar flare Nov 16 2012. A X18 flare just erupted earth directed.

Heard someone in Finland saying the same, two days ago. He worked for a major telecom and said very similar to what you are saying! On a thread about Russian civilian satellites being down due to a broken "cable."

Where arr you guys getting info on an x18 flare? I checked solarham.net and nothing mentioned about a massive flare

It wasn't even a flare, it was a solar prominence. A magnetic ribbon of plasma I believe that got blasted off

Inmarsat-4 F3 covering the Americas is up, just made a call over it... No problems.

I'm not sure if there is ship to ship relay like iridium, but all my calls terminate in the UK so it would stand to reason that the others in the fleet (Inmarsat) are alive as well. Also the uplink depends on GPS constellation for spot beam selection.. That worked fine too also tried uplink to BGAN over same bird, strong signal and no problems.

Large UFO in the area, they shut down stuff, so people can't see it.

I would assume that you could spell satellite correctly

do commercial sattellites have detectors onboard for things like unusually high electron/ion count, or do operators rely on public data?

That's a GOOD question, I have no idea.

One would assume a scintillation counter or similar instrument could be easily fitted to the bird and be given a downlink channel in telemetry... Perhaps even interference experienced by the main mission antennas could be sensed as well.. But to be honest, I don't know.. Have to ask

Leonid meteor showers tonight, perhaps they are moving stuff around, like the space station?

And btw, when a flare happen, you don't feel the effect on earth (or his orbit) right away, it take hours or days.

I also call bs on this thread, maybe you have one or two satellites not working at full potential but all others are fine

There was a thread on something similar earlier and when you click on the NASA link theyve stopped the feed of what they've detected in earths atmosphere ... Doom ...lol small minded cowards ... Prepare

Something is messing signal up pretty bad on Sat. ESPN2. Not seen it so bad since the X - Flare a few months back.
