The dead are alive and subjected to their allotment according to their sins. Some will burn longer but not eternally.

Plainly scripture tells us here that some will be judged harsher than others. The judgement day is when Christ comes back with His reward.

You all claim to be experts on Catholicism, how it's all evil and only your brand of Christianity is the right one. The Catholics are the only church with apostolic succession, they can trace their roots back to Christ's personal buddies. The rest of the Christian religions however, broke away from the Catholic church a looong time later, and don't have that claim to back up their legitimacy.

Catholics do not worship saints. When they pray to saints or Mary or whatever they are basically saying "Hey. I'm here on earth and you're up there in heaven, closer to God than I am, and you probably have his ear. Do you think you could do me a favor and pass my prayer along to God? Put in a good word on my behalf?" it's called INTERCESSION.

Catholics do not claim the pope is God, they do not worship the pope, they do not pray to the pope. They believe he is infallible in matters of the Church, but that's as far as it goes. He is a man same as everyone else in every other respect.

And no, I'm not a Catholic or any other sort of Christian, or any other religion for that matter, I'm an agnostic. the book of Thessalonians was included in the western canon thanks to a Catholic Council called by a Pope.
