ruger 10/22Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27876137
small game, to large game this one is a classic.
Power matters little whenever you can drop a bullet in on a quarter size target at 100 yards and stay on target for the next 32 shots. Any thing living that gets a .22 shell in the eye isn't getting back up.
ammo is abundant
ammo is light weight you can carry thousands of rounds
comes in a break down configuration for back packs
After market add ons, magazines, stocks, scopes are gigantic
Great fun to shoot so you will practice, because it has no recoil, no need for ear protection.
Ammo is cheap, cheap, cheap, and so is the gun.
This is a great great gun. Girls love this gun.
A friend of mine said he use to bring down dear with his, but that would be illegal so I'm sure he's lying.
i would take almost any other .22 before the ruger 10/22. of course i dont wanna dress my .22 up as a faggy little wanna be AR sooooooo.
the ruger 10/22 is a sub standard POS really, especially for the $200+++ price tag.
the ONLY thing it has going for it, and why it is so popular, is because of the tacti-queer accessories they make for it. 50 round mags and AR looking furniture.
off the shelf, its less accurate than many other rifles, you have to sink several hundred dollars into one to make it a nail driver.
the marlin model 60 is MORE accurate, MORE dependable, and CHEAPER by nearly $100.
hell i'd buy 3 mossberg plinkster .22's for the price of 1 ruger and the plinkster is a better gun off the shelf!
