There was no X 18 flare today. There was a filament eruption a much less energetic event and it wasn't believed to be earth facing.

Hi there, OP. No x-flares at all this week. It's an old story from 2003 that MORANS keep re-posting just to troll up confusion. We've had no flare that powerful for over 7 years. Here's a list of strongest flares since 1978:
