Also if you save the tuna or cat food cans, cardboard in parafin wax and roll to fit and fill the cans, makes great little flame.

and of course be cautious of your surrounding
so you don't have an accident!

From the same site, how to open a can without a can opener. I can see using this in an apocolyptic scenario. How many of us have cans of food in our bug out bag, but not a can opener? precisely my point. It takes about 5 seconds for him to open the can without a can opener. Pretty awesome video.

Re: emergency candle making from tub of crisco
I had another idea about the Crisco candle. Fill up coffee cans, the metal type, with crisco and insert a emergency candle down into the can. Make sure it is nice and even and the candle should be positioned in the middle of the can, pushed all the way down to the bottom.

I am much more likely to have a candle around, as opposed to a tub of crisco...1dunno1peace

Actually i DO have a never used can of it, no idea how old it is. I'm thinking of securing the wick with foil with a little bit of glue in mason jars, since I have plenty of them. Then transfer the oil to the jars. That way i get more light out of them.

OP, have you ever tried the Crisco, and if so, does it work well?
