Superstorm hits Australia's East Coast with 4000 lightning strikes in one hour in Brisbane

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND
for DAMAGING WIND and HEAVY RAINFALL

For people in the BRISBANE CITY, MORETON BAY, REDLAND CITY, North Stradbroke Island and parts of the GOLD COAST CITY, LOGAN CITY, IPSWICH CITY and SUNSHINE COAST Council Areas.

Issued at 9:57 pm Saturday, 17 November 2012.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 9:55 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Brisbane CBD, Strathpine and Caboolture. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Beenleigh, Logan City, Cleveland and Redcliffe by 10:25 pm and southern Moreton Island, Tangalooma and northern Moreton Bay by 10:55 pm.

Damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.

I'm in Caboolture, the rain has been steady but the lightning and thunder has been nearly endless the last hour and a bit, and it's picking up again. Been a few thunder hits so loud it feels like a shockwave runs through the house

wtf man you are in America. I'm right in the middle of the storm that you refer to atm and a massive lightning strike just hit a tree outside my window just as I'm writing this lol. An my ears are ringing from it.

And I'm still not crying bout it on GLP until you mentioned it.

Take it from me it's not even that bad atm. I still have electricity even.

That's not to say the power won't go out soon. But so far it's okay.

For some reason aliens have started manipulating the weather. I have no idea why they have choosen this time to start doing this or why they are doing it.

I am pretty amased at how many neighbors are on this forum within 100klm of me - how cool. I am inland Ippy but don't want to say the town on here because it is just too small.

My tanks are full woohoo - it rained all night and lightning and thunder and heavy winds - its a beautiful morning - the grass is so green and everything looks clean.

The storm has passed for now, during the chaos i could hear screaming coming from nearby. Im afraid to go too far outside in case of what i see. This morning I put the tomato plants OUT for some fresh chem-trailing acid rain, as appose to the fluoride thick tap water!

Our storms seem to be over - lost power 3 times just on and off for awhile - how did you go

We lost power for about 3mins but the thunder and lightening didn't stop ALL NIGHT.

Sun is shining at the moment and thunder still in the background but IMO expecting more of the same this arvo.

We are having another storm right now - 4th for the morning - rain i can understand but the constant thunder and lightning is a bit unusal

i just popped down town for milk while its storm quiet and they are down in the shop saying this is weird - we have all lived here for 16 to 20 years and yes its weird. Thunder starting again now.

getting totally blasted, had to fight the wind to get the front door close, I knew it was coming but one second all was fine and then, like I said TOTALLY BLASTED.

I've lost count of the storms, thunder like bombs!

Any damage? I fell asleep for 2 hours and woke up to all our storms being gone and it is now incredibly hot. That one your getting must be coming from a different direction then us.

Just heard on the news you guys are getting hammered with hail - stay safe.

No damage nor hail here, so much rain the street started to flood but that went down as the rain eased.

Thunder still here - thats like 30hrs of constant thundering - feels like we are in the eye of the storm as there are dark clouds around us, thunder booming and getting louder again but there is pink sky south of the raaf base and blue sky peeking thru.

BOM isn't showing too much but from the looks and sound of it we about to be hit again.

In the context of my post at the time and followed by the words, THE WORST IS YET TO COME!

In the context of posting on GLP, advising this is relatively normal for qld storm season and NOT some end of the world doom.

I am sorry if I have offended you in some way but please understand the context it was written in.
