Quoting: Corbin980 It's relative. Transport a white guy from the 1950's to 2012 and he would think that it was armageddon right now.. Transport a black guy from the 1950's to 2012 and he would think that this place was heaven. Transport a muslim from 1980's to 2012 and he would think little has changed. Transport any man from 2012 to 2000 years ago and he would think it was hell. TSHTF all the time, it's all perspective, observation and personal. You realize it when it has happened for you. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 27302733 11/17/2012 03:48 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We have been in a slow motion SHTF scenario now for quite a while. Things are going to gradually keep getting worse, government more intrusive, and everyone but the 1% getting poorer. Quoting: MaryAlananB So, it'll be like the other 98.5% of human history? We'll just go full-circle I guess. It used to be so bad for the common man that he'd have to give up his wife for a night or two if he didn't have enough money to feed his children. Black men were chained and forced to work until death. People were intentionally filled with diseases to lower the strain. Fresh food and clean water was only for the most wealthy amongst us. And if we opened our mouth to complain or talk bad about our rulers, we'd be crucified or stoned to death. ^It's coming AGAIN!! ![]() |

Me I'm watching the middle east and the financial situation - so I keep an eye on zero hedge, Kaiser report etc. Oh and news repports from other than our own msm. I'm already well stocked up but when my gut tells me 'something bad this way comes' I'll be hitting the shops big time. 'Bugging out' could be really stupid in many cases. This gal will be bugging in! |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 331367 11/17/2012 06:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No population can live above the resources available for unlimited time. All we have is a cheap energy bubble which started with englands coal and the steam engine and is now running out with oil and fuel engines. Our live standard is one of people owning a hundred slaves each .. and our slaves only need energy and do not compete with us for other resources like land and food (although bio-fuels actually do !) Unless humanity comes up with some incredible new device that actually does not only use energy but is able to transform it out of stuff that is widely available we are doomed for pure scientific and statistic reasons. As .. so far we do not even have any idea what it may be ( CERN, ITER eat billions for research but there is no "Manhattan project" break-trough in sight) the very likely outcome is: An overgrown consumer base meeting less and less ressources and as can be shown with any population no matter if fungi, plants, animals or humans, this always leads to war over those resources. Which basically only means that the number of people using that resource will fit itself to the size of resources available during and after the war. The funny part is: As proven with dozens of experiments with mice and other mammals: Even IF we are able to manage to have enough resources and energy in abundance .. humanity will still die out because "lavish" lifestyles poison the social integrity of mammal societies which leads to civil war, street brutality (even with mice !) and pointless acts of violence for no reasons. So there is doom anyway. The only thing hard to predict is it`s position on the x-line (the time line) NOT that it has to happen because it is a simple math problem. |
