Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21926154 That is theoretically the entire point of a college. To educate people, but also to provide a means for people to know who is educated and who is not before you hire them. But in our society, even if you know how to build a particle accelerator out of toothpicks, you have to have the money and time to get a degree. It is ridiculous. If you were that smart, you should be able to start your own company and become a billionaire. So quit bitching and start working. |

My mom was making $100,000 - $150,000 a year without a college degree because they didn't HAVE college degrees for what she did when she started. I know what she knew, I don't have a college degree and I have tested the waters and can make about $90,000 - $100,000 a year doing what she did before she passed with zero work experience. I just don't want to. lol. She regretted the work she did, and I wouldn't want to add to it by being a stooge to the corporations and government. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 27915599 11/17/2012 07:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I often thought about that, I went through college and got the piece of paper at the end, I came to think what is stopping someone getting these textbooks and course outline and exam papers and reading them in the public library or at home in their own time until they know it all?. Im sure I could learn a subject that way fast track no real need to pay someone so much to stand in front of me in a lecture theatre 3 times a week and read and explain to me what I could figure out myself with those books. So it is possible to know a subject but not be able to get it "officially" acknowledged because you havn't payed the money |

I am aware of CLEP and getting fast-paced degrees from university of phoenix and the like. Those are good points. Thank you for the feedback. However, even though those degrees are ACCREDITED somewhat, it is a far cry from a degree from a major university like Rice. But you guys are right. I stand corrected. I can get some type of degree in a year or so through CLEP and similar programs. |

Did you ever notice, lets say NASA, with the billion dollars worth of funding has no clue as to the complexity of the universe. They are always baffled, confused, not sure. There are lots of intelligent people out there who don't have a degree. Welcome to the 21st century. |

I make a pretty nice income. (nice nice). I may not have a piece of paper that says im smart. Although, I "do" have just about everything I want now. My own home, a nice can and a pretty damn hot girlfriend. We vacation all the time, and Believe me when I say best decision, I have ever made;) I am my own boss... I go to work when I want. I have never been this happy! Best part is it only took me: a prepaid debit card, and 50.00 to start. buy low sell high. <--- I am going to read some other stuff now, but ya. Learn how to ebay... ! |
