| Anonymous Coward User ID: 4243405 11/17/2012 08:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The story line in the first movie was very focused and it also had the 70s grittynes and social realism, real people in it. Prometheus had a story line sprawling all over the place and big concepts that were hinted at but were left as holes in the movie hoping that net fan boys would flesh it all out. Besides Ridley Scott being now an old mainstream director had to bow to the PC agenda, so no sharp edges or subversivity I use to like the first and third most, as i feel Cameron was already too mainstream, but recently I rewatched the 4th and enjoyed it, it was so hilariously over the top, an emo android chick was more interesting than the "evil gay robot" in Prometheus ... and the idea that we were supposed to root for the pirates that just had stolen batch of hibernating space emigrant workers and provided them to the US Space force - to be host organisms for Alien chest busters ....etc .... |

There was literally almost no fear or dread or even tension in the entire movie. It was a BORE FEST. ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1212477 It was really good in some parts but I think it would have stood better if the alien had been removed altogether and the story could have been based around uncovering some other form of alien enemy like those giants, rather than making a retrospective movie of how the original alien was uncovered. The dying entrepeneur that wanted more life or a fix was totally unbelievable and pointless and the way they all started personalising questions for the giant that was 't so friendly. Then stupid ending about A. Synthetic robot head helping the woman find the giants.. What a big joke... They could have sent the jolly grey giant to bring reinforcements to kill earthlings in the sequel, or made the giants return to earth on mass to save it from another (not the original now boring alien) alien/twinky supply threat |

On one hand, he was very impressive. On the other hand, I felt the snorkel helmet reveal was a let down. I mean, it made sense for that weird snorkel deal to actually be a piece of equipment, but for years most people thought the pilot was some kind of exotic creature. But it served the story I guess to make him 'humanoid'. Just a letdown. |

I can understand how it would disappoint some, it was a lot like the show LOST. They have us tiny pieces of info but not really any answers. They left it up to your own imagination. As soon as I left the theater, I went and bought ALIEN and have watched all of the series and the PREDATOR series too. There are just soooo many things that tie them all together. Prometheus was meant to show us how it all began. It really is the oldest question in the world, "where did we come from?" The movie didn't answer hat question but it gave us some new ideas and theories on where the ALIENS came from. I can't wait for the nex one. Destroy all that is evil, so what is good may flourish. Guns cause crime like flies cause garbage. KCCO |

A lot will be explained in the sequel, mind. Quoting: Sparrow and Medicine I agree 100%. This is a case of over exposure to ideals. I've been a science fiction fan since I can remember.. a fan of all the classics, a collector of weird times magazines, and a critique of modern science fiction, as it's become lost in it's own message. This movie however was beyond the scope of what most modern science fiction films and or plots hope to deliver within the span of a movie's time restraints. You need to step back, op, and truly ask yourself if you are thankful for the genre existing as a whole, or that these ideas that you might be a fan of, are allowed to persist in a modern capacity at all!.. be happy that we've we've got a cult sci-fi like this at all, and especially with the room for a sequel?! I mean damn, can we stop being so friggin' unhappy with everything over the most minutely of details ??,this movie exists, and as much as you wish it had changed the genre, I think the fact that it delivers the ideas of what we love as a fandom culture is enough for me. You should listen to Louis c.k go off in his stand up about people who don't appreciate anything, because I feel like he's talking about folks like you.. directly. I could have edited this, but instead I just mashed it out quickly on my phone. Because it made me angry a bit.. |

There are a couple of web sites that go over them and I felt better about the movie after reviewing the mental gymnastics required to view the movie. The reviews were not kind but I adore scify so I enjoyed the movie and would pay to see it on the big screen again. This movie is a master piece in terms of special effects ,color, cinematography. A must see for even the casual scify movie goer. It is movie best viewed on the BIG screen. |

It was just freaking boringly told. No. A LOT was delibrately left unexplained, to leave room for a sequel. The story was penned by Damon Lindelof, who wrote 'Lost' (alongside Carlton Cuse). He likes to leave a lot of things for the viewers to mull over, and spend time crafting something grand and mystic, not rushing to provide you with answers. You'll appreciate Prometheus far more, when everything is put into perspective and given more context, further down the line of this new saga. Alienvs Predator movies were not that good. Give this one time. Maybe the sequel will tell a more complete story ;) |
