On Channel 4 news tonight, an Israeli peace activist claimed that the Hamas military head had been in talks for a truce, but that Tel Aviv's administration had decided to have a symbolic killing instead, to show they could get anyone they want.

Also he said that Hamas are wanting a land invasion as this brings their targets closer... the West Bank authority wants to 'score some' before petitioning for a truce, this gives them favour with their own people
