But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. I Corinthians 2:14 God doesn't choose favorites.. They choose HIM It is not the greatness of my faith that moves mountains but my faith in the greatness of God |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1375041 Might think about going to harbor freight and getting a flint/magnesium fire starter. Or watch some youtube videos on how to start a fire from natural items. I will wait patiently in the woods until they start the fire, then I will take it from them... |

samanthasunflower User ID: 14930415 United States 11/17/2012 04:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm giving out magnesium fire starters as Christmas gifts this year. My family already knows I'm a doomer, and the firestarters were cheap. Quoting: samanthasunflower So actually you're saying that your family already knows that you're a doomer but now they also know that you're cheap? They all make more then me, they can afford their own toys. Besides, it will be part of a gift pack with some homemade stuff like jam, nuts, homemade jerky, and stuff like that. |

Don't forget a way to filter your water. I use a katadyn hiker pro and berkey sport bottle for my BOB. I also use a big berky sport for home use. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1110734 United States 11/17/2012 05:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Err....some thoughts on all of that: Many people have no idea about their hot water system. Is it gas or electric? Is it actually a tank or is it tankless and using a heat exchanger? GO LOOK NOW. When if ever have you drained it? Most people haven't. GO LOOK NOW and try draining a little when not in operation. Many have lots of corrosion from rust and sediment from soldering agents in piping plus grit. Better to know now, then when you are thinking, "Oh I'm covered on water supply." Don't drink water from toilet tanks. They most often have very high staph content and you may just have dosed your family with contaminated water. Not wise. Filling up your bath tub means not being able to have a dedicated place to clean from. It's true that short term you could rapidly fill it with water for flushing. I would never drink water from a tub without a lot of treatment. The dirtiest places in your home are places with sinks. It's a guaranteed way to vastly introduce bacteria into your body. It's possible to purchase a water bob and therefore create a source of water to drink short-term. Long term you can't flush or drain the tub since sewer systems may not be able to cope or operate. See Hurricane Sandy especially high rise apartments. I encourage you to research everything I say for veracity. Many of these issues are specifically and carefully dealt with 600+ postings in: Thread: Last minute tips for parents when the SHTF |
