If you only store a few jars of peanut butter and pilot bread along with some water, you may be ok till help arrives.

But if we have learned anything...help may never arrive. So do something to help yourself. Anyone can fill big coke or Pepsi bottles with clean water. The bottles take pressure, are food approved, seal well with the plastic lids, and are still perfect in a flood. They can freeze solid and it will not hurt them if you stand them up so the lid does not crack. You could bury them in the back yard and the critters will not get into them. Things like rice, beans, sugar, salt, barley, Whole wheat, bullion, nuts, and even Jelly beans can fit through the small pop opening and be safely stored. You can do even more with V8 or plastic juice bottles as they have bigger openings.
Even on a budget you can prepare to take care of your family.
If nothing happens…you can eat it all anyway.
