The UN's role is to strengthen Muslim rebels and rape children.

The US pay's 22% of the UN's $4.19 billion yearly budget. In 2010 we payed out an additional $7.6 billion to the UN 4 peace keeping/defense missions, which are not part of the regular budget. So we probably paid for this?

the congo is a treasure trove for any nation with the balls to go in there,gold,silver,jewels,probally oil ect.at some point in the future we will need to plunder it for its resources!

Goma the capital of North Kivu province will fall within hours.


Snip; "We are about to take the town. We will spend the night in Goma tonight," said Kazarama. "We are confident that we can take Goma and then our next step will be to take Bukavu," he said mentioning the capital of the next province to the south.


Snip; U.N. peacekeeping chief Ladsous said that the rebels were very well-equipped, including with night vision equipment allowing them to fight at night.

Reports by United Nations experts have accused Rwanda, as well as Uganda, of supporting the rebels. Both countries strongly deny any involvement and Uganda said if the charges continue it will pull its peacekeeping troops out of Somalia, where they are playing an important role in pushing out the Islamist extremist rebels.

The U.N. Security Council called for an immediate stop to the violence following a two-hour, closed-door emergency meeting. The council said it would add sanctions against M23 rebels and demanded that rebels immediately stop their advance toward the provincial capital of Goma.

"We must stop the M23" because Goma's fall "would, inevitably, turn into a humanitarian crisis," said France's U.N. Ambassador, Gerard Araud. He added that U.N. officials would decide in the coming days which M23 leaders to target for additional sanctions.

UN troops have been dropped in to Goma. The city is holding but the situation is very serious. Congo is sending more troops in, they better hurry.

News is slowing to a halt from within the city as the situation intensifies.

Goma fell, the peices are coming together now.

M23 Rebels Vow to Take Congo, as Troops Defect

The M23 rebels pressed ahead with their seizure of territory and towns in eastern Congo on Wednesday and said they intend to topple the government of President Joseph Kabila.

The rebels took control of the eastern Congo town of Sake in a bid to move toward the provincial capital of Bukavu...

The M23 is made up of hundreds of officers who deserted the Congo army in April this year. Neighboring Rwanda has supplied trained soldiers and weapons, according to a report by United Nations experts to be published Friday.

The speed with which the M23 has seized Goma and the surrounding countryside, rich in minerals, exposes the weakness of President Joseph Kabila's government, 1,500 kilometers (978 miles) to the west in Kinshasa, say experts...

Strewn with bodies, burned out vehicles and abandoned tanks, the road between Goma and Sake showed evidence of Tuesday's fighting...

"I know two women who were raped, there are more in the area," said one Goma resident who insisted on anonymity for fear of retaliation...

Rwanda, and to a smaller extent by Uganda, are accused among other things of equipping the rebels with sophisticated arms, including night vision goggles and 120 mm mortars.

Update; The rebel group starting negotiations with the Congolese government wants the country's president to resign, according to a rebel document.

Jean-Marie Runiga, president of the M23 rebels said to be backed by Rwanda, on Thursday showed The Associated Press a list of demands that he said will be presented to the Congolese government.

The rebels' demand for Congolese President Joseph Kabila to step down comes as a leading advocacy group says the president is "unable to effectively govern the country."

The M23 recently withdrew from Goma, the capital of North Kivu province in eastern Congo, in order to begin negotiations with Congolese President Joseph Kabila's government.
