Mammoth security patch rushed out for Adobe Acrobat and Reader
Adobe has issued a security bulletin urging users of its Adobe PDF Reader and Acrobat products to update their software before hackers take advantage of at least 23 vulnerabilities in the software.

In a clear sign of the seriousness posed by the security holes (at least one of which is being actively exploited by cybercriminals), the updates were issued ahead of Adobe's regular quarterly schedule.

Adobe Reader 9.3.4 (and earlier versions) for Windows, Mac OS X and UNIX, Adobe Acrobat 9.3.4 (and earlier versions) for Windows and Mac OS X, and Adobe Reader 8.2.4 (and earlier versions) and Adobe Acrobat 8.2.4 (and earlier versions) for Windows and Mac OS X are all vulnerable to the security flaws, which could potentially allow a hacker to take control of users' computers.

Re: Mammoth security patch rushed out for Adobe Acrobat and Reader
Interesting, when my computer booted up this morning a box popped up from Adobe telling me to download its new update for Flash Player ... Adobe is a pain in the ass but I'm glad I did the download now.

and this? Adobe Reader zero-day exploit thwarts sandboxing

A Russian security company has found a zero-day vulnerability in the latest versions of Adobe's PDF reader software that's fetching between $30K and $50K on the black market.

The exploit, is reportedly being used to install banking malware, is also packaged up in the new version of the Blackhole Exploit Kit, used to distribute the banking Trojans Zeus, Spyeye, Carberp, and Citadel.
