Re: Ranchers, farmers brace for 'death tax' impact
It is good to hear that there are so many who actually know the real score...Thank God.. Sometimes, you start to wonder if everyone is deceived about what is really going on...Thank you all who actually take the time to research and look around instead of just watching MSM BS...

also, for those of you who mention farmers being paid to not farm their land.........you do not understand that they are not compensated nearly enough for what they WOULD have made, had they been able to farm it...it sits there..they cannot do anything with LAND THEY OWN!!!

You think they are happy about that?? You think they want that?? NO.
Farmers would much rather work THEIR land and be able to produce what they want, when they want..
between MONSANTO and GOVERNMENT, we are all f***ed!!!!!

You accept the love you think you deserve~~~

Love like it's never gonna hurt~~~

Oh boy. My Grandpa owns an alfalfa farm, he owns about eight pivots and two leases pivots. If he dies without a living trust made then we loose the farm. Most people forget, so long as you have living trust everything will be inherited just fine. So yea this really sucks, but there are ways around, thank goodness.
And it's ironic too
'Cause what we tend to do
Is act on what they say
And then it is that way~Jem.

It's not just the ranchers and farmers bracing for the 'death tax' or the January 1 0bamaKare tax that's coming...

I found a Senator from North Carolina who has his Asheville home up for sale @ $1,200,000... [link to www.ashevillehomelistings.com]

Looking at the towns millionaire homes for sale makes it appear there are many jumping ship...

Re: Ranchers, farmers brace for 'death tax' impact
Correct ... the thought behind the Estate Tax was to avoid multi-generational dynasties that created an aristocracy class that slowly came to control the United States.

Has it worked? NO!!

we DO have multi-generational dynasties in the US (look at the Rockefellers, the Bushes, the Kennedies, the Skakeles, the Pitzers, the list goes on and on) who DO remain near the top of the power centers of the US for generation after generation.

For those at the very upper end of the economic spectrum though the Estate Tax HAS limited their ability to completely dominate US power, but at the cost of many hard working types being punished also.

The problem with the changes coming to the Estate Tax on Jan 1 2013 is that it's exemption level is being reduced from about $6,000,000 being tax free (which meant that about 4500 estates in 2011 were subject to it) down to only $1,000,000 being tax free (which means that almost 30,000 estates will be subject to it in 2013!!) (and the tax rate is 55%!!!).

Instead of LOWERING the exemption amount they should be RAISING the exemption level to the $15,000,000 to $20,000,000 range, which is where the WORKING RICH and SELF MADE RICH are mostly congregated at. At that level I have read less than 1000 estates per year would be affected
(which makes sense if only 4500 estates are affected at $6,000,000), and that amount of money is enough that EACH of the decendent's children would have enough wealth that they would NEVER have to work again themselves if they didn't want to (and didn't piss away their inheritance).

The concept of avoiding the pitfall of 500 families having MOST of the wealth of a country (FOREVER AND EVER!) is a good one (imo) (one of Mexico's biggest problems is that 50 families own about 80% of the wealth of that country ... and they have NOT been inclined to share it with those who actually work and make the economy run).

As currently implemented in the US however the Estate Tax PUNISHES those who work hard in their life AND those who create NEW wealth for everyone.

I am sure the "purists" here will flame me over this, but without some sort of Death Tax upon the small slice of the very wealthiest (those with wealth in the hundreds of millions on up) it would only take a couple of generations for the wealthiest 500 families in the US to own 80% or more of EVERYTHING there is to own in the US.

OH ... and for those who critique me I am very much a Free Market person, but will point out that if an entire industry is owned by just 3 or fewer families that industry will NO LONGER operate in a Free Market manner (ala Mexico over the last 70 years), because it doesn't have to.

Re: Ranchers, farmers brace for 'death tax' impact
Some of you people are fucking retarded! Greedy? You want to talk about greed? How about you stop being greedy and wanting other peoples shit! This isn't just about farmers this is about destroying what's left of the middle class. Anyone with a house and a small business worth $1 million dollars, who worked hard for those things will have to have their kids sell the biz. because they can't come up with 55% cash to pay the IRS in nine months.

These so called rich farmers are only land rich they don't have over $500,000 thousand dollars in cash sitting around when they get the bill for a $1 million dollar estate. So they are forced to sell the land within 9 months, if they even can sell it. Yeah that seems real fair. If you maggots actually had what it takes to make it in life you sure as hell would not want to lose half your hard earned money.

This will destroy the last of the small business in America and all that will remain will be corporate giants that pay you slave wages. Have fun working at Walmart and then giving your check right back to them. Then with the little bit you have left you can take the wife and kids to Applebee's for a microwaved chicken dish, because all other family owned restaurants will have been sold or died thanks to this tax.
 Quoting: Munsoned

Well, that is part of the plan via Agenda 21 that is full in effect and will wipe our the remaining land and farm owners over the next 5-10 years making it impossible for anyone to be self sustaining thus resulting in a socialist system that has been planned for hundreds of years.

We are seeing capitalism die rite before our very eyes,
 Quoting: KnightsTemplar.TV

Yes, they've looted and they aren't finished yet. Farmers aren't going to be spared, either. They are taking from everyone, it should be apparent by now that "no one" is spared. They'll get to those who think they are so useful who make a descent living and think they are above all this too at a later date. No-one will be spared from the theft. They came for the little people first, oh, yes they did. Then they came for the workers, the rich will be last--right now they need them to place blame on the victims.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27563215

Flow like water and understand the plan. The only way to survive is to be like water by flowing. Resisting urges to fight what is already done. It isn't an assault on me, your or the farmers, but an old way of life where the plug has been pulled a mighty long time ago.

If you see the future because they have already revealed it to us "victims," then how can we be victims when we have been warned and the writing in on our mirrors every day when we look in the mirror? Doesn't that make us somewhat stupid or ignorant for failing to act or move based on facts we already know?

The Death Tax is a communist idea! Realize the money taxed in a death tax has already been taxed many times.
Why can't you extend your well being to your heirs?
 Quoting: PatrikC325

Ten Planks of the Communist Manifesto

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
Americans call it Federal & State estate Tax (1916); or reformed Probate Laws, and limited inheritance via arbitrary inheritance tax statutes.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 802683

Funny thing is that the 2 biggest communist countries have no death or estate tax like this. In addition, this has been going on since Wilson and Rooselvelt.
 Quoting: KnightsTemplar.TV

That's because they never own the land to begin with. Just lease it from the government....
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26679021

Correct and ownership is an illusion anyways. We all die with nothing and reincarnate in new lives naked.

poor farmers.

Farmers who dont grow anything, but just deal with cattle making themselves a killing while the average person struggles to buy beef in the store.

Farmers who sit on their land their whole life and never have to get out and get a real job in the real world while their property is used for nothing when they could be growing crops and hiring hundreds of people to harvest those crops by hand.

Poor Farmers who act as if they are more entitled or better than everyone else just because they own huge chunks of land.

yet my husband "makes" about $30,000 per year
that's it
we do have a house so no payment there
but we aren't rich
and he has worked his ass off all his life
7 days/week
many years without vacations
when it snows he's out taking care of the cows
while you're at the beach he is picking fruit
or stacking hay in the loft of the barn where it's about 120 degrees

SO YOU CAN HAVE FOOD

without farmers there is no food
do you not get that?

this will not hurt big ag
ever
this will wipe out small farmers

who can't "afford" to pump their meat with hormones
or give medications as SOP instead of simply as needed

you're talking out your ass
you know nothing about how many small farmers operate
and how they'll fare later
we still have the old equipment used by previous generations

as for jit delivery, true
but people who CHOOSE to live in areas where they are dependent on jit delivery ARE making a choice
i don't make that choice
our family chose to stay on the farm and support our community in the process
as do other local farmers
our community will eat
and people smart enough live in such a community will eat
as long as your beloved fascists don't find a way to steal it all

We petition the obama administration to:
Exempt Family Farms from Estate Taxes.

Estate taxes are a crushing burden on Family Farms by demanding that a huge tax be paid on land after the death of the owner. Although the land is valuable, most farmers have little cash and are forced to take out huge mortgages in order to pay these taxes. These mortgages take decades to repay, resulting in the farmer having to practically buy his own land back from the government. We ask that farm land and multi-use areas directly attached to these lands be made tax exempt from any and all estate taxes in order to remedy this unjust situation.

Yes, I am entitled. Did you start working 12 to 16 hour days when you were 8 years old? Did you dread school letting out for Summer because you went from 2 day work weeks to 7 day? Were you ever hungry because a crop didn't make and your whole diet until next harvest was beans, potatoes and corn bread, with the occasional hamburger?
And you know why farmers don't like people like you on their property, because you sound like the type that will take a 4 wheel drive truck into a field of standing wheat and do donuts just to see how much damage you can do.

Re: Ranchers, farmers brace for 'death tax' impact
It sounds like a way of taking all of the good land from the little people who paid for it.

ya know, most of the farmers around here wouldnt let you so much as step foot on their property without shooting you. Thats how greedy these people are. Greedy rich people who think they are entitled to their fathers wealth.

EXACTLY
people have no idea how hard a small farmer works
and how he lives
they aren't out during hurricanes, blizzards and below zero temps taking care of animals
and they aren't sweating and dehydrating working the summer
and can't afford to pay for help
either you do it yourself or it doesn't get done
very few have any clue just what that means for a farmer
i don't give a rat's ass about big ag
it's the small farmers that need to not be taxed
they're taxed on the "value" of their land and equipment
not what they actually make off it which isn't much at all
so farmers end up selling their land
but, hey, at least there will be room for more subdivisions for yuppies and walmarts for the ignorant masses

Re: Ranchers, farmers brace for 'death tax' impact
Do you know why most farms are now owned by large corporations? It's because the farms don't make enough money to make land payments and still put food on the table. Mom and Pop farms are going away fast. If the farmers have to pay ridiculous taxes to inherit what they have worked for all their lives, the money comes from the bank. The bank will end up owning the farm. One more farm bites the dust. Farmers are far from rich. Most barely make ends meet in a bad year. A lot of farms depend on loans to survive a bad year. In a good year that same farmer can make enough money to pay everything off, and maybe buy a new truck, or a tractor. Does that make him rich, no it just means he can keep working his ass off for another year. Farmers work hard, and put in 60 to 80 hours a week. At harvest time or when something goes wrong, the hours can go up dramatically. Sometimes they have to eat on the go, and survive on a little nap when they can take a minute off. I don't know where these assholes get the idea that farmers are rich. If any of them want to try it, most farms are looking for help. The hours are long and the pay is not too good, but at the end of the day, you feel like you have accomplished something. With the average farmer being somewhere between 65 and eighty, this could work into a chance to inherit some land. If you are man enough, and aren't afraid of hard work, go for it. Just don't try to tell the farmer that he's rich. Even though his net worth looks really good, all his money is tied up in land and equipment.

The death tax makes it very hard to keep the farm in the family. It's just a gift to large corporate farms. That who ends up with all the land after it is repossessed.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
