Doom is in the eye of the beholder. Besides our own demise this is the kind of doom most of us will face.

Also in my top 10,

Giyah Kancheli - Light Sorrow:

It may seem a bit quiet the first 8 minutes, but then you better turn your volume down (not joking).
It's just Kancheli's style.
I love it!!!

She was on the cover of National Geographic back, I believe in the late 70's or possably early 80's. Beautiful eyes. I saw an update on her a few years ago - time has weathered her and she has a family, but when she bloomed, what a flower she was. Many have said that she has the most beautiful eyes they have ever seen. I don't think religion so much as a hard life and tragedy takes the shine from eyes (not to mention poor nutrition and biological functions put under unrelenting stress - a life the result of mental, physical and yes spiritual impoverishment all contribute). Many atheist with doll like sharks eyes as well. What can we attribute that to - genetics, dietary, a lack of inner refinement, spiritual corruption manifesting? Oh well she was a most beautiful flower given to us through the magic of lens and film for our mortal enjoyment.

Well, maybe not heroic, but doom it is:

There is not a better combination in the world, IMO. I witnessed him performing that in Vancouver BC eons ago, the whole world went black except for that round spot of light with him playing in it. (I was in a box seat). Spooky. You are right, it is pure doom, no way out.

That is so beautiful. Bream rules forever!

I saw Segovia play that in concert in NY decades ago, and with all due respect to the great old man, he did play Bach like an organ grinder. He was quite old then, maybe 80? But the rest of the concert was lovely. We met him after the concert, and his fingers were like little sausages, I don't know how he played so well!
