Frontline is not working, is Advantix SAFE? | |
| Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 23427044 11/17/2012 07:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am afraid to use Advatix on my dog because of that extra ingredient i.e. pesticide that makes it toxic to cats. I dont' have any cats, but you know, you can punch up horror stories on dogs having kidney failure to fatal seizures about this stuff on the internet. Also plenty of peoople that use it fine with no problems - regularly. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23427044 I have a 37 lb., nine year old cocker and have applied Frontline with no results and now her skin is quite irritated and she wearing herself out with discomfort from the fleas. Vet is a young girl just outta college cuz my regular vet is on vaca. She urged me to give dog Benadryl and use Advantix. Anyone have any personal experiences or thoughts on Advantix please share. Thanks. btw Frontline has failed TWO months in a row i.e. two consecutive applications. |

I once put shit like you're talking about on my cat and IT ALMOST KILLED HIM! He had allergic reaction to it, started drooling (took 3 days to effect him), mouth all swollen, etc. Vet couldnt' figure out what was wrong, and said he had "Feline HIV Aides" and to put him down! I said HELL NO!!! Took him home (broken hearted - I LOVE HIM!) to try to figure out what to do....still had LOTS of fleas. I used Borax (THAT WORKS, TOO!) I finally figured out that he had had an allergic reaction to that shit, and found a "cure" on-line to give him Activated Charcoal. IT WORKED!!! He survived! Then I discovered Diatomaceous Earth (FOOD GRADE), and now I sprinkle a little on them (LOTS of cats!!) about once a month. NO MORE FLEAS!!! You can sprinkle it where they lay, etc. and it will keep all kinds of pests aaway. Use only the Food Grade one so that when or if they lick it off themselves, it can't hurt them. In fact, when we adopted one abandoned cat, she had tapeworms, and fed her a teaspoon of DE everyday for a month, and NO MORE TAPEWORMS!!! The stuff is great. Research it. |

Quoting: Giftedest Diatomacious earth is also very safe and effective when used properly. see, it's that "when used properly" that confuses me. There aren't any formal instructions on how to use it anywhere are there? |

I found it work alright at stopping the fleas though. IO switched her to Advantix after finding a tick attached to my lower eyelid last summer ![]() I too, was leary about using Advantix as I have two cats and one of them likes to groom the dog. What I've found out is so long as you keep the treated dog away from the cats for 48 hours or until the application site is dry there won't be any issues. I'm still paranoid about it though but haven't found anything else that works. I hate using pesticides on my dog and wish revolution worked better. |

Don't use that poison on your animals it's cruel!! Use a natural flea collar and a natural spray. Look into all natural ways of repelling insects from your animals. Stop supporting big pharma and helping TPTB with their Agenda 21 genocide. GEEZ!! |

They lack an enzyme which helps to metabolize pyrethrins. |

YOUR NAME IS HOLY. MAY YOUR REALM BE INCARNATE IN ME. MAY YOUR POWER REVEAL ITSELF WITHIN ME, ON EARTH AND IN THE HEAVEN. GIVE ME TODAY MY DAILY BREAD, AND THUS, LET ME RECOGNIZE MY TRANSGRESSIONS AND ERRORS, AND I SHALL RECOGNIZE THE TRUTH. AND DO NOT LEAD ME INTO TEMPTATION AND CONFUSION, BUT DELIVER ME FROM ERROR. The active ingredient (selamectin is in fact quite safe. It is related to Ivermectin which has been used to prevent Heartworm infection for many many years |

And our dog with Revolution has not had any ticks. You must be one of the lucky ones because it has been my experience that Revolution while great at controlling Fleas, Lice, Mites, etc. Does not seem to work that well for Tick control |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 27767422 11/17/2012 10:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have one small dog, and multiple cats. None of my cats go outside, and I have had horrible flea problems this year. (East coast, US). I've spent a fortune on Frontline, and it doesn't work! I really hate putting that poison on them, but I've searched online and agree, you can find reviews, pro and con for everything. It's maddening. I swear, I have one more dose left for the cats, and I'm never buying that crap again. Glad that I read this about Advantix and cats, never buying that either. What I am going to do, I don't know. |
