new way to cut the usa debt. fire all union emplyeee unless they take a 25% cut in pay AND pay 50% of their pension.we have unemployment =other ppl want your jobs. so either do it n shut up,quit asking for raises,or QUIT.

The union is part of the problem that makes us slaves.

Why can't people just stand up for themselves. In a free market you have the ability to find another job. There is something called job competition.

It's because of unions that you make a decent wage. It's because of unions that you work a 40 hour week instead of 72 hours or more. It's because of unions that you get holidays off with pay. It's because of unions that you get 2 weeks vacation with pay. It's because of unions that you get sick days with pay. Geez, but you people on this site either don't know your history or you just want what you think is good for you. If it weren't for unions, the U.S. would be ranked with 3rd world country pay scales and benefits, which are none.

Unions will NOT be the death of this country, big corporations will. They want low wage workers with no benefits.

pilots make 19k a year after going into debt around 80k to be able to fly, reagan had no nuts, his handlers had his nuts in a vice grip. The most successful company with a union is UPS, best job to have in the states... great pay and great benefits... ask anyone who works for a corporation without one... they get treated like snot, myself included.

That is pure nonsense and you know it, I know a great deal of people growing economists and libertarians that make min. wage and are certainly not in the 1 percent and that advocate for end of unions. Why? Because they are now destructive to our economy. When unions were first organized it could be said they were helpful in at least providing for workers and making sure they didn't get thrown under the bus. The conditions were terrible in part because the technology was terrible, it has advanced and the conditions have gradually gotten better


Look at Walmart - they pay their employees jack, most are part time workers, they send them to the state for medical care -which YOU PAY FOR, and then they pay almost NO taxes!!!
Walmart works the way it does because consumers want it. If consumers didn't shop there Walmart would change its business practices.

"What keeps families making living wages" No, what would dictate living wages would be inflation and market equilibrium if it were allowed to exist.

All those things you mentioned would be given to those deserving of them within the company for staying so long, not just because they say they deserve it. And once again slave wages, is determined by market and inflation.
In example if the average wage across the U.S was 5 dollars an hour, not mandated but average. then the price of food would have to go down to reach market equilibrium. plus assuming we have a "FREE market" The subsides to corn and farms would decrease and farmers who would actually have to work for their food would decrease prices to compete. PLUS Monsanto would be out of congress out of public affairs along with the rest of the lobbyists in Washington.

Therefore I submit to you that Govt. and public unions are not the solution they are the problem.
