I have a feeling this earthquake could happen sometime in the next few hours to 2 days later, so if the OP is wrong don't blame him. These things are hard to predict by the hour, but it will happen very very soon....not in terms of weeks, but days or hours.

I trust the Rockies will make an effective barrier from the water and whatever. The right equation and the Japan stuff can be sent back, ........ how big a wave can Japan handle today, not that it would matter much to the west coast of the Americas.
