First, heirloom seeds and book on how to save seeds to replant.

Second, everyday supplies and food for pantry. Medicine, bandages, soap, etc.

Books on medicine and on survival if you believe it is necessary.

Then and only then should anyone buy silver.

Knives are always handy.

You can plant dwarf apple trees, pear trees, peach trees, etc.
Raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and strawberries.
You can even grow orange trees - just have to bring them into house when it gets cold.

The pioneers survived back in the day just relying on themselves and their near neighbors.

What order do you rank these items on your prep list ?

One thing I figured out early on is that clean water is an imperative. The problem with water is storing enough of it and it is heavy and hard to move around. Solution is to be able to make your own potable water. I got a Katadyn water filter that I keep in my BOB. Expensive, but each filter can produce over 10,000L of drinkable water.

Impure water is the biggest disease vector and cause of death on the planet.

The other stuff is important, but start with making sure you can get potable water from any source---fountain, pond, lake, stream, rain gutter. You can't last more than a few days without it.
