I am NOT welfare SCUM, This economy has not enough decent paying jobs. And some of us are genuinely disabled. The day you loose your job and have to get EBT, lets throw you to the wolves too. OK. Or maybe soylent green is the solution for you.

Its true that if EBT and Government handouts stop, there will be riots.

So what is the Government doing about it???

They are printing more money because no bank or country wants to lend the USA any money. This will devalue the dollar and eventually it will be worthless. Don't believe me, check out Germany prior to WW2 and hyperinflation hit their currency. They were also under the Gold standard back then. Now all currencies float and are assigned value. Once people wake up and realize that a piece of toilet paper could be assigned value, that is about as good as the green back gets...

Organic vs. GMO foods

How do you know that Organic foods are not grown from GMO seeds??? I think its just a big marketing ploy from Monsanto.

There is GMO corn and soybeans. Also in hydrogenated oils and high fructose foods. The only foods that are not GMO are tomatoes and some others. Don't confuse hybrid seeds with GMO seeds, totally different. GMO is genetically altered in a lab so that it can resist different pesticides and diseases, where hybrid seeds are done artificially by grafting techniques or naturally by open pollen cross breeding.

Best thing to do is to get prepared and buy your own seeds and plant a garden. Then you know how it was grown and homegrown always tastes better.

As of cost value, do the math. A package of seeds costs $3.00 or less and can produce many plants that can yield many vegetables.

If you have limited space, try raised beds or flower pots or even the topsee turvee tomatoe plants.

Remember don't rely on the Government, rely on yourself....

What you said is very true, but don't expect the majority of people on this board to listen and understand the truth. They are way too invested in their hatred of various "demographics" who they mistakenly believe are the lion's share of food stamp recipients (hint: most are white) and their hatred of the thought of the government "giving" something to anyone else that they don't themselves get, whether they need it or not.

The bottom line is that the EBT/food stamp program is the last backstop that keeps millions of very poor people from starving to death (but not eating well), helps employ lots of lowly paid, often part time service jobs in the food distribution industry (many of whom qualify for EBT themselves), and ultimately enriches the overflowing coffers of J.P. Morgan.

as to government and money, you have ignorance, which I cannot spend time to correct today. While one should grow food, flower pots in limited space supply little food. Raises bed require land and the only purpose in them, is to make it easier to garden or raise above polluted soil, or on slopes to prevent loss of crop. People living in apartments do not have land to use them. Flower pots are useful also only during fair weather.

The cost of flower pots, dirt, water and fertilizer for the small amount of food produced, will not even break even the first year.

Not concerned. If someone can't afford food they likely can't afford firearms or are incapable of much violence if they are unable or unwilling to work.

Very true, but is critical that you buy only open-pollinated, heirloom seeds . These are the same varieties your great grandparents grew (in some cases, for hundreds of years), and as such, cannot be GMO. These seeds breed true, unlike modern hybrids (whose seeds either won't be true or may not be fertile at all), and you can save seeds from your heirloom plants and grow them year after year. But you have to forgo eating some of your plants in order to let them go to seed, so plant extra.

Some reputable sources of heirloom seeds are: Seed Savers Exchange, Fedco Seed Cooperative, Native Seed Search, Territorial Seed, Victory Seed, Eternal Seeds, Sow True Seed, Baker Creek Heirloom Seed, Bountiful Gardens, High Mowing Organic Seeds, Salt Spring Seeds, Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, Sustainable Seed Co, Kusa Seed Society, Richter's Herbs, Solana Seeds, Sandhills Preservation Center, Seeds of Change, Landreth Seed Co.. There are others, of course, but these are ones I have done business with and have not been disappointed with their products.

and you must of course also have a bunch of land for a garden and I being a gardener have an pretty fair idea of what a garden must produce to feed people and it is not possible for a garden to supply all the food needed. And it does cost to grow food beyond the cost of the seeds.

The only "produce" you get is $10 a month. How much non organic does that buy? Now how much organic can $10 get you?

This applies to ebt cards too. Maybe needs a thread of its own

Wow. There are many posters here who are gonna have to think back to this moment when they ridiculed others for having hit hard times requiring them to get some help in the form of food because they are going to find themselves in the very same lines as those they have scorned.

An elderly couple-and i know this for a fact--since it is my aunt and uncle and i took then to the shopping center-put me in my place and actually embarrased me-and i deserved it.

I said to my aunt as i helped them shop--Aunt Bea---why are you shopping for the specials you have that card? She gave me her stare down look and loudly said "Why not this is ours and we need it why abuse it" this way it goes further and we are glad for the help.She put me down big time.

They stock a lot of can food and necessities when they can get to a store.

So for the non-abusers it is a blessing.

EBT will end. Its a fact. I for one won't be responsible or even feel sorry when its over.

Among the intelligent; the most pressing issue in this country is population control....the "culture of life" interrupted rational thought for 20 years (christian "family values")...the parasites/drones will continue to feed and devour the infrastructure and resources until legislation is passed to limit the number of mini-me's...any person who fails to pay taxes or recieves welfare should be prohibited/penalized for procreating....and, welfare should be limited to a specific period of time; like unemployment compensation...6 kids by three different father's? Any person on welfare should be given a fresh supply of "day after pills" to prevent welfare mini-me's....hell, I don't mind footing the bill....I would certainly rather pay (taxes) to stem the parasitic tide; then provide food and lodging to generation after generation of drone couch potatoes.....(Oh, for those who are bitching about what kind of free food the drones are recieving; I have a simple solution: let em' get a freaking job...then they can purchase whatever they want to ingest)....

There is enough food produced on this earth for far more than the current population (not that we need to keep increasing). The true cause of hunger is poverty and inequality, not scarcity.
