I have family who have been told they will no longer have a job, they were told it was because of the health care bill.

I'm getting below the magic number of employees to escape Obummercare. I would rather be smaller and profitable without dealing with the Govertnment than larger and less profitable while keeping DC happy.

I'm not going to put myself in a position to deal with them. I'll remain smaller and do just fine. I'll pay less to government in sales tax and with fewer employees, less in social security as well - not to mention no Obummercare for my companies.

Less in, but much less out. I win.

Business owners can adjust. Employees will get the short end of Obummers plans. Sad.

It is absolutely Obummer's fault that I'm laying off employees - it is his health care law that has resulted in this decision! I'm getting smaller to avoid this law - it only applies to companies above a certain size. As of next Monday, I will no longer be above that size in either company. It makes perfect sense.

These people would have had a job for as long as they wanted to work for me, if it were not for Obummercare. I'll make more money by choosing this route.

That is why I put capital at risk and own businesses - to make money. Business always adapt to the situation. It's not my fault that Obummer created a situation that is more profitable to fire people.

I never said Obummer was "clearly a piece of crap" - you did / but I bow to your wisdom…

In the trickle down effect, this results in substantially less revenue for the government - which must in turn, reduce payments to those that are not contributing. The death spiral has begun...

If I didn't take care of the economic health of my companies, I would not be in a position to employ all of the remaining workers. You would prefer that my companies can't make a profit and go out of business - which of course means ALL of the employees are out of work.

Is that a better result? Seriously.

Well, imho, I actually belive the immediate result of obamacare will be more people with jobs.

Larger companies will reduce hours for as many as possible, to get under obamacare limit. In turn actually hiring more people to make up for the shortfall.

Smaller business will downsize, but I reckon the smartet business owners will simply start another company and move over some employees. ie divide their business.

This will have the effect of putting more people in work, and make statistics look nice. Even improving statistics for newly started business and so on.

But the "boom" will be an illusion, because we are talking more people working but with much less pay. Less inclined to spend on anything unnecessary.

The secondary effect will come after 3-6 months into 2013, when the boom in jobs fail to translate into a higher economic activity...

...and the realisation that things are, well, not as rosy, will probably set in by second half next year.

Another loophole that many smaller businesses will probably explore is to force their employees to become subcontractors, ie, consultants, to their old jobs.
