Republicans are in trouble because they have abandoned solid conservative constitutional principles. Saying you support a core principle and then hedging your bets by pandering to the left who have no principles make you look like the liar you are every time. McCain was a horrible candidate in 2008. Romney was a slightly better candidate, but refused to set solid conservative constitutional principles for his campaign because he doesn't have them. Pandering to the left middle whatever doesn't gain you more total votes if you are pissing off your base. Romney got less votes than McCain. Should say all that needs to be said.
Personally, I am just sick of being lied to by people who want nothing more than to maintain the status quo at best.

If they try real change they will risk White flight out of the party just like how White flight in the 60's and 80's TO the Republicans created the abortion that they now are. They will refuse to follow Steele and Jindal and rub elbows with a million Hispanics. They will flee to the Libertarian party and become militant and ineffective.
