If the company you work for is raking in 1000 a month
and has to pay out 900 a month for expenses, why would employees scream to make more in wages? Wouldn't they rather try to find ways to make the company more productive, rather than aid in its collapse?
From what I've read, Hostess wasn't doing that great in profits, and the union and union dupes should have known that, and realized what would happen if they kept demanding more.

If you're only making $1000 a month and have 90% expenses then you need to go out of business.

Idiot.

Most semi-conductor businesses make around 3-4% margin along with most manufacturing.

So you want them to ALL go out of business because they have thin profit margins? Very few companies have > 10% margin.

If the hostess union members think they can get better wages they TAKE UP A COLLECTION AND BUY THE BRANDS...then go to work as owner / employee and see how easy it is to make payroll.

Perhaps they'll learn that it's not as easy as they think.

And yes, leverage has killed millions of business since the dawn of man...it's not new to our banking system. Borrowing too much money will cripple cash-flow at any time period.

The company only owes you a paycheck for the day's work and they have every right to negotiate a pay rate as low as you'll accept.

The company has no obligation to exist tomorrow for your convenience. It exists to make the owners as much money as possible for it's owners.

It's not your company just because you hung around 20 years without showing enough initiative to do something on your own. Were are these folks degrees (night school)? Why didn't these "master bakers" start their own shops? Why did they pay Union dues but neglected to save collectively and start their own large corp?

It's not your company because you and your friends formed a gang (Union)and used threats to extort higher pay and benefits than you could gain individually.

Never been in a union and don't wanna be. The companies I have worked for were running 15% - 25% profit margin and I'm in management so I see the P%L and now what their labor and other expenses run so forgive me if i didn't know that some businesses run that low a profit margin.
