The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787 |

The world's population totaled 4.8 billion in 1985. Now we're at 7.1 billion. the 80's was the golden age, and we've been in collapse mode ever since, as we continue to descend towards the tenth level of hell. Quoting: 80's come back 27688679 Ronald Reagan, The A-Team, Bird vs. Magic, the Cosby Show, Growing Pains, Jerry curls, MTV used to actually play music videos..... The 80's were the last decade where the world was still an enjoyable, somewhat normal place. Starting right around 1990 everything went to shit. I agree. I miss them too. |

Movies were normal, people were normal, there was no internet or iPhones, people actually talked to each other, and overall we weren't as twisted as we are today. You can't even talk to people nowadays. People didn't have to work 3 jobs to make ends meet, and there were still decent jobs available. Now that the population is at 7.1 billion, there isn't enough money, land, or opportunity to go around, and everything has fallen apart as a result. And Kim Kardashian is a mogul.....I repeat, Kim Kardashian is a MOGUL. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 20566260 United States 11/18/2012 02:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Every decade misses the nostalgia of the decades before it. Really, people just miss the era they were young, free, and oblivious to the world pain around them. 30 years from now people will miss today. Live in the moment and look ahead. Remember if Cinderella went back for her slipper she would have never become a princess. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 27980967 United States 11/18/2012 02:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes and no...it was not an easy time. Generally, NO. I would not wish to go back or relive the vast majority of it. I don't like watching the movies from then, do not want to go to the dentist and hear "80's music" (UGH! -- although I like SOME of it), and can do quite well without the fashion or hairstyles, thanks. But it did seem like there was something different about the world, then. Things seemed more logical and predictable and made sense. The direction things were going then, and where they wound up somehow, seem like two totally different places. I'm confused how we wound up "here." |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15751650 In the 80s I was growing up in a large city and we were allowed to walk to school without worry, plus we could leave out bikes outside without worrying about them being stolen. It was not that bad. exactly. There was still crime, there's always been crime, but nowadays our cities resemble third world countries and you feel like you're walking through a war zone if you walk through a major American City....it's like being a soldier in Afghanistan...you literally feel like at any second someone's going to through a grenade at you. The higher the population count goes, the more impossible our daily lives become...and the more sick and twisted pop culture becomes, the more sick and twisted we become. We've reached our limit. |

"MY SPIRIT, YOU ARE OMNIPOTENT. YOUR NAME IS HOLY. MAY YOUR REALM BE INCARNATE IN ME. MAY YOUR POWER REVEAL ITSELF WITHIN ME, ON EARTH AND IN THE HEAVEN. GIVE ME TODAY MY DAILY BREAD, AND THUS, LET ME RECOGNIZE MY TRANSGRESSIONS AND ERRORS, AND I SHALL RECOGNIZE THE TRUTH. AND DO NOT LEAD ME INTO TEMPTATION AND CONFUSION, BUT DELIVER ME FROM ERROR. FOR YOURS IS THE REALM WITHIN ME AND THE POWER AND THE KNOWLEDGE FOREVER, AMEN. Quoting: SPUD ah, memories... [link to www.youtube.com] I'm just talking about society in general...our world in general. You could do, say anything or dress anyway you wanted and nobody gave a shit. It was work hard and then party hard in the 80's. Now everyone unintelligently criticaly judges everyone else without justification while they sit in front of their computers everyday complaining about how others that have actually made something of their lives are not perfect enough in their eyes, yet they are uneducated, on Welfare, 50lbs over weight and don't have the balls to move out of their moms basement. Now most everyone is a pussy. |
