I voted for Israel. I don't really "like" either (or blacks or hispanics for that matter), but if I had to choose who I'd rather have as a neighbor, I'd prefer a Jew. They typically keep to themselves, keep their lawns mowed, and are pretty smart. I can also relate to their neuroticness.

This is attitude that, if each of us had a similar one, could let peace be known around the world. To each his own, polite disinterest for them, look after us. Stop trying to claim they are us.

1. If by "potential future terrorists" you mean Palestinian children, then logically the same rule must apply with the German/Austrian children who would grow up as "potential future Nazis", does it not? Nonsense. It's this way of thinking that is what's wrong with the world (and that's actually not an exaggeration).

2. How is it the fault of Gaza's men, women and children that in 1948 the (European) Balfour Declaration forced 1.5 million people in Palestine from their homes at gunpoint and crammed them all into a tiny strip of land? It wasn't their choice. Would you blame yourself if Russian troops marched into Austria and relocated the entire population to a tiny little ghetto?

Well, as well thought out and sensitively articulated as your opinion is, and that's not to say I don't echo it, the whole conflict is, much like our own domestic political scene, theater. So, by playing the game between the Dems and the Repubs, their game, their rules, their "choices", you end up with their pre-ordained result or their backup plan. That's the only two choices. The only enlightened choice is to step back and see the game for what it is and to act, if at all, toward a different goal.
