If Oscar Niemeyer dies in the next few weeks, then 2012 is REALLY the end of times!
If you have doubts about 2012 being really the "end of times" or not, you must pay attention to Oscar Niemeyer in the next few weeks.
Oscar Niemeyer is the iconic Brazilian architect who is famous in the whole world for his works. Niemeyer projected all the most important buildings in Brasilia, the planned capital city of Brazil, built in the 50's.
You can read more about him in the Wikipedia article:
But the most important part is that Niemeyer was born in December 15, 1907, so this guy is 104 years old, and he will become 105 years old the next 15th of December.
Because of his advanced age, Oscar Niemeyer is called in Brazil as the "Brazilian Highlander" (after the "immortals" in the "Highlander" movie and TV series).
Some people say Niemeyer will live until the end of times, because his health is fine for his age.
Or at least, it was, until this month...
Right now, Mr. Niemeyer is in a hospital, with serious problems in his kidneys.
People in Brazil are getting nervous. Because the "Brazilian Highlander" is supposed to live until the end of times.
If Oscar Niemeyer DIES in the next few weeks, you can be SURE that 2012 is REALLY the end of times!
If he dies, the Mayans were right, and the end is near!

By the way:
Oscar Niemeyer was part of the multinational team of leading architects who projected the headquarters of the United Nations in New York City:
"Rather than announce a competition for the design of the facilities for the headquarters, the UN decided to commission a collaborative effort among a multinational team of leading architects. The American architect Wallace K. Harrison was named as chief architect and director of planning, and a board of design consultants was nominated by member governments. The board consisted of N. D. Bassov of the Soviet Union, Gaston Brunfaut (Belgium), Ernest Cormier (Canada), Le Corbusier (France), Liang Seu-cheng (China), Sven Markelius (Sweden), Oscar Niemeyer (Brazil), Howard Robertson (United Kingdom), G. A. Soilleux (Australia), and Julio Vilamajó (Uruguay).[8]"
