Downsview has a military air force base so they're probably there on business. I wouldn't worry about it.

Low level urban training, Cities give off lots of heat... So they need to train above a city to get the feel of the turb they throw off.

Saw the same thing. They were flying low, together heading east across the Downtown East Core. Saw them from Allan Gardens (Jarvis/Gerrard). Immediately tried to google it, and it took a bit for this thread to pop up.

Some on twitter seem to thing they were not CF-18s. Did anyone get a look, or a pic? Two like that headed east make me think Trenton. Non CF-18s...perhaps a pair headed up for training from the US. Strange that the would vector them over the city though...IANAATC but jets, and fuel, and an Island airport, and a parade...why risk anything.

That said perhaps it was an air escort for Santa back north, :)

To be honest, they did look like F-18's to me. That being said F-18's are the only 'fighter jets' that Canada has. If they were American they could be an F-16 but they were most definitely one of them. I could clearly see their body and configuration as they flew over head.

I live near the tim hortons on kingston rd and midland.. Saw the same two jets flying low headed south east toward the lake. Freaked me out, really not used to this type of sighting : /

i used to work near dufferin and finch and there is actually a little military base there in the middle of no where... some days i would see jets fly over the noise was real strong!

Not sure lol, all I know is people came out of their houses with the noise. Guessing their 'manly radar' pointed them in the right direction ;)

Was just at a friends house on lakeshore, saw the fighter jets too...

I saw them as well - I was out raking leaves around 3:30 - 4 pm when 2 fighter jets flew past - Danforth & Woodbine area. This is not a common occurrence in my neighbourhood.

Agreed.. I lived in East York all my life, recently to Scarborough (talk about demoted lol) and in all my time have never seen something like fighter jets passing over head.

The only time I recall this happening is when the air show is on, and even then, they rarely come out that far from the island airport.

Kinda makes one feel like we are living in russia, or worse the usa.. Something about war machines flying over head that is interesting, yet scary.

I love the sound of those machines, but dislike low flight levels over my house.

Time to move to Alaska!

Microwaves are very directional, and if what is said is true, they are most likely very specific in its upward direction of aim.

Unless you put your house directly beside the transmission area, there is not much to fear.

My basement lab has more EMF, microwaves and transients moving throughout the air, that I personally would not see much difference.

I suppose it all comes down to how much foil I am comfortable wrapping myself in : /

The 100th Grey Cup is being played in Toronto next Sunday. CF18 Fly overs happen all of the time in the Canadian Football League.
