i knew somebody would go there. its all within reason, obviously im not saying that the shorter the barrel the more accurate as in 2" barrels. and your half right about velocity and trajectory. thats within reason too, every different round has a balance point as far as barrel length. too long and the round starts to slow down from drag. i think .308 is like 20" optimum so having a 36" barrel for a .308 isnt gonna get you anything but a longer more unmanagable rifle.

-ruger's new "american rifle" costs like $350 has i think a 20", maybe 22" barrel, and can shoot out to 1000 yards as tested by every major gun magazine and TV show.

It would be more accurate with a 16" barrel though, right?

The snipers were using Mosin Nagants. Past 200 yards the AR is barely in ballpark compared to a $100 Mosin im good shape

longer barrel + proper rifling + proper bullet = win , a 22 can shoot a fucking mile yet what are the chances of it hitting what you want ?

the idea that a 16" barrel is spray and pray innacurate yet a 20" is 5 mile sniper accurate is childish and absurd, just like you.
