One day I was having a chat with my wife about domestic violence (there had been an incident in our extended family), and I realized that for me - as a male - it would be easier to forgive infidelity than getting hit by her. I've always hated the double standard in movies where women slapping men is seen as humorous or justified. A man hitting woman is an abomination, but domestic violence towards men is not justified either.
Cheating is, of course, inexcusable, but for me a one-night stand would be easier to forgive than a slap in the face (or worse).
And no, I am not projecting "my own desire to cheat on her". For me, hitting your spouse is the ultimate betrayal of trust and if I ever did it to her, I couldn't live with myself anymore. Cheating is bad, but for me the difference is a bit like the difference between shooting someone and stealing all his property. You can't take the bullet back and fix the injuries as if they never existed, whereas property can always be returned or compensated for.
I can see how a marriage can be salvaged after a problem with infidelity, but I don't see how it could work anymore once someone gets beaten. |

If your spouse breaks up with you cause you beat the living shit out of her - she did not truely love you. "The world will soon wake up to the reality that everyone is broke and can collect nothing from the bankrupt, who are owed unlimited amounts by the insolvent, who are attempting to make late payments on a bank holiday in the wrong country, with an unacceptable currency, against defaulted collateral, of which nobody is sure who holds title."
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
The woman who is not pursued sets up the doctrine that pursuit is offensive to her sex, and wants to make it a felony. No genuinely attractive woman has any such desire. - H.L. Mencken, In Defense Of Women |

Beating - are we talking one enraged slap or push into wall or whatever as provoked or a severe bashing as his dinner was burnt. But chance of forgiving here with me IF pushed and if it was not excessive. However he may find he got a kick in the privates whilst it was happening, lol. |
