Message Subject How can I stop my son talking to himself CONSTANTLY???

Wow, doesn't sound too good. Is he actually psychotic - like paranoid and/or not making good sense? Because, it's not good to leave him like that if so. Also, does he seem to be getting better or worse, and how much sleep does he average a night? If he's getting better with time, maybe he'll come out of it, but if getting worse, something needs to be done.

I've had issues with my daughter and found a good night's sleep is essential to her mental well being. With her, I've found a very small amount of anti-psychotic is all that is needed. About one tenth of what they would give in hospital. I know your son has reacted badly to olanzapine, but on a very small dosage (2.5 mg or less, there is no weight gain, minimal antipsychotic effect - but still has a strong sedative action and also helps prevents psychosis.)

Also, on tablets, you can then take your time and wean him off yourself over an extended period of time by cutting them up yourself.

By the way, there is no need to make your next appointment. You can easily postpone a while by citing ill health or other.

No he is not psychotic at all, no paranoia, nothing. That's why I took him of the medication because it was unnecessary for just talking to himself.
Yes he had visual hallucinations with olanzapine but he was also on the invega at the same time so I don't know what he'd be like with just the olanzapine?

We have to make this appointment because the only way we got out of the last 2 was we changed from the clinic to a private doctor so the clinic think he has been compliant with their court order & I want this doctor (who was actually a relief doctor at the clinic for my son) to see that there is no difference without the drug.

He seems to be a really good doctor so hopefully we will be able to have a really good talk with him & maybe even do something like you suggested with the small dose & see how that goes.
