I don't think they can afford to be cowards when they are surrounded by nations that are hostile towards them. They live right in the middle of Muslim nations with many radical elements wanting to wipe them out. They are the underdog and I support them more than the assholes chopping heads, feet, and hands off people. Or, holding people down and shooting them in the back with an AK for a death sentence. Or, crucifying Christians in Egypt. Or, blowing up children with bomb vests, or trying to build nukes to blackmail the region.

You dont get it. Gaza is Israels land from way back. Traditionally Israel was made up of tribes. The area where Gaza is was largely the same land granted to the tribe of Judea. It just so happens that King David and Jesus are from this tribe. Sure, a lot of Jews dont acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah but they do know that Messiah will be from the tribe of Judah. Basically, Israel wants there land back and it has become pretty clear that the Arabs running around there at the moment don't intend on leaving peacefully. So Israel is left with force option. Maybe this when Jesus comes back with sword in mouth as a warrior to protect Israel as prophesied in Revelation.
