What was Trans Jordan which included the West Bank? The land was split between several entities as I recall. The Arabs you are referring to fled the Israeli Territory at the behest of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. They subsiquently got themselves thrown out of Trans Jordan when they attempted to overthrow the King. Lebanon and the other surrounding countries would have tossed them as well if it weren't for the refugee camps which were a HUGE source of revenue for them. By the way they still are! There are several in tiny Gaza. Now pray tell why two generations (64 yrs) these people are still in these CAMPS they have no direct attachment to the land. |
