I really want a Christian to answer this...not a troll thread.
I dont really believe in anything I guess. Big Bang makes little sense to me, as does Christianity. Besides the many glaring contradictions in the Christian Bible, theres a larger theme I just dont understand and its bugging me because I WANT to believe in something.

Whether the Bible is meant to be taken literally or figuratively, theres many stories that can be proven such as the defeat of the Philistines, deaths of Kings, certain prophecies, and most of the people portrayed in the Bible can be proven to have lived from other sources. All besides Jesus of course, but I digress. Here is my issue with Christianity:

Like a typical gen Y male...ITS NOT FAIR!!!

2000 years ago, men had Jesus walking the earth doing miracle after miracle. Abraham had his burning bush. The whole population of Israelites seen their God bring plague after plague against the Egyptians and then were fed Mana for 40 years in the desert.
Theres many stories of angels saving people like Lot and his daughter from destruction. You can include David in the lions den and God saving him. Include Shadrac, Mishac, and Abednigo as well since God saved them from being burned in an oven.
Youve got Moses runnin around getting water from rocks, turning staffs into snakes, parting the Red Sea...etc.

Theres only a few examples out of many more I could write. My problem is WHERE ARE OUR Moses', Josephs, JESUS', burning bushes, big booming voices from the sky, healers of the blind, any true MIRACLES at all???

It doesnt seem fair that back then, GOD made himself noticable. People actually SEEN His works and there was some semblance of PROOF that God really DOES exist. There was a reason for people to follow Jesus besides just faith.

I would think that God would make himself more available to a current population that has nothing to latch onto besides evil and bad things. People had a far easier life back then compared to now. Then, you herd some sheep, hunt, grow food, and watch a miracle or two. Now, we all work 25 hrs per day, take care of kids, worry about almost everything from GMO's killing us, to watching a world spiral out of control....all of this, and we're still supposed to make time for FAITH when it appears God has left us thousands of years ago.

Sadly, the vague fulfillment of random prophecies in Daniel and Revelations isnt enough for me to change my whole life and blindly follow a religion. It feels like if there were a God, he has abandoned US when WE need Him most and what God would do that??

Besides birth, DNA, and other banal nonsense, can a Christian please provide me with some insight as to where God has gone? Do you as a Christian think its fair that people 2,000 years ago got all the proof while we ( at the supposed end times) get nothing? Where are our healers, prophets, miracles? While religion is based on faith, one would think God would throw us a bone once in awhile on the same grand style of the old days no?

Back then there was what...perhaps around a hundred million people or less? Now we stand at the brink of 8 billion and we're more lost now than ever in history while God just sits there and expects 8 billion to follow Him with NO PROOF while he offered the 100 million people proof after proof and they were still over a millenia away from the supposed end times.

As a Christian, how does your church deal with this glaring difference between cultures of old, and the culture of now? How do you personally get beyond all of this?

Please....no answers like ," God has always seen me through the bad times". Listen, we've all been on the brink. Whether its losing a job then miraculously getting a better one the next day or needing a hundred bucks to pay a bill, which you recieve at the last moment by some crazy turn of events, I dont buy that thats God stepping in...or rather, not on a grand style like the old days.

Thanks for reading and look forward to the replies.

Standing in a carpark doesn't make you a car as much as going to church doesnt make you a christian. Live your life as a good person and you gain faith in all things good.

Hi, I would like to bring to your attention this book,
The Book Of Job which is in the king James version.
Now if you read you will find that not until the end has Job ever seen, heard or ever had any kind of direct intervention with God
It clearly says that Job just heard of God and obeyed, let me look it up = Job 42:5
It clearly says that Job had only heard of God.
Now Job was a just man and I feel like he probably wonder as alot of us do why God does not interact with us today but does he?I can not say.
But the fact remains that before Job ever saw God he had just heard of him.
I do not think that Job would had ever seen God had not Satan did what he did to God in saying if you stricken Job he will curse you.

Christianity is a faith religion. Jesus called the people "wicked" for demanding proof. When Jesus walked the earth, he only had a few hundred followers, not counting the thousands who later rejected him. 40 days after Jesus was gone, there was suddenly 3,000 more believers and Christianity spread like wildfire.
Jesus plus nothing equals life. Jesus plus anything equals death.

You cant prove something by taking a snippet from the exact book thats causing my issues. Faith does not depend on prohecy. Furthermore, prohecies in the Bible are open to interperetation since theres no exact times given.

Why werent the Moses Israelites expected to believe based on prohecy alone? They got to witness plagues and free food falling from the heavens. By your logic, God shouldnt have done that. Instead, he should've expected Moses to follow based on prohecy right?

At that time, the whole old testament had already happened. There was plenty of prohecy to fall on...namingly the Old flood and Genesis where it explains death and childbirth and the reasons for those things.
Why did God see fit to overwhelm one time period with miracles while leaving us to fend for ourselves on faith alone?

If God made us with free will then he also has to give us a CHOICE. Right now...there is only evil things in this world. I see no good being done on a grand scale, so what are we supposed to choose when given only one choice?

Idk, for me, I need some sort of proof beyond words from the exact book im on the fence about. Makes no sense to do so otherwise.

If you want proof of God, you must seek him with all the passion you can muster. When you except Jesus into your life and He sends you the Holy Spirit...Your question will be answered.
God is not a respector of persons....Meaning if He did something back in the day for someone, He will do it again. The problem is you must be born again of the Spirit and walking a holy and rightous walk...Doing God's will, not yours. Very few ever get to that place in their life, thus the miracles are few and far between.

In the old testament you could lose your salvation and they had a continuing series of plain miracles. In the new testament believers once truly saved from the heart cannot lose their salvation, but no plain and evident miracles. UNTIL AFTER THE RAPTURE WHEN THE COUNTDOWN RESUMES AND YOU HAVE TO BECOME A JEW TO BE SAVED.

I was going to say get into Bible prophecy as well. Isaiah 53 for example. I say study the messianic prophecies regarding Christ's first appearance on earth and look into prophecy regarding his 2nd coming. Psalm 83 for example is about ready to be fufilled in the middle east. The Bible defends itself if you want to go down the prophecy rabbit hole...

Re: I really want a Christian to answer this...not a troll thread.
God still very much works miracles today, but we have to be careful to not base every miracle on God because the Bible says especially at the end that satan will work with all signs and lying wonders to deceive if possible even the very elect of God! Miracles in and of themaselves are not proof that God did it, infact, even the magicians could create the illusion of throwing their staffs down and they became snakes as well. Satan and his evil host are the master of delusion and deception and don't think for one minute his greatest delusion of impersonating Jesus himself is right on the horizon to draw the world into utter deception. People who KNOW and believe what the Bible says about Christ's second return will NEVER be deceived by this because they know when Jesus comes, He's not stepping foot on this earth at that time, His people are going to MEET HIM IN THE AIR and go back to heaven for 1,000 years before the New Jerusalem descends back to this earth afterward. But many people today are buying into a fake rapture theory that's not even remotely biblical and all kinds of other heretical teachings instead of going on a plain "thus saith the Lord!"

The problem is people won't read the Bible for themselves anymore, they want a "feel-good, I don't have to change" kind of fake religion that has NO power whatsoever! God's people will also be able to work m;iracles at the end as well, the Bible says it will happen, but even in that our faith has to be founded on the things unseen and not seen. True faith is believing even when you haven't seen and KNOWING beyond the shadow of a doubt that God is always there and only a prayer away! God had a reason for doing it the way He did back then, and a reason for doing it this way today. Those who truly trust God KNOW that all of the Bible is truth. If you read the prophecies alone it's proof enough. How did Daniel know hundreds of years in advance that the ruling kingdoms would be Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome before it ever happened? Because GOD revealed it all hundreds of years in advance. It is a most exciting feeling to know God has everything in under control and knows it all. Rest in that assurance :)

Again, you cannot imply truths coming from the same book thats in question....that makes no sense.

Jesus also had FAR more than a mere few hundred followers as well. Perhaps you forgot how he fed THOUSANDS of people with a fish and a loaf of bread. Perhaps you have forgotten that he travelled from town to town doing miracles. Dunno about you, but if a dude came to my town and healed someones blindness, the whole town would immediately follow that person. Jesus did this numerous times with plenty of witnesses. If my blindness is healed, im tellin everyone about the guy that did it and it would cement my faith.

The question is simple and yet the answers offer no insight. Why are there no miracles now to allow US to cement OUR faith. Not one anywhere. Not any for two thousand years.

It seems like a loving God would want to help his flock when they need it most, not when they didnt. Again...hardly fair by any estimation.

Hey OP, since Jesus' death and miraculous resurrection, God gave us the Holy Spirit or comforter. It is God's way of abiding in us. He is here with us. All you have to do if you are a Christian is ask for Him (HS) to help you. He does and will. If you are a believer in Him. You feel Him and KNOW He is alive and with us. If you are not a Christian, you won't understand. But if you are...WOW....YIPEE!!! You know because you know. It is the greatest of all comfort.

Ahhh, so because someone doesnt see your point of view, you decide name calling is in order. Gotcha. I suppose the title of Anonymous Coward fits dude. If ya aint got anything to offer in the way of insight or anything to offer the thread, go troll elsewhere.

The predominant thoery is to just not ask anything of why God does things, just shuddup and follow. Well, its GOD that made me so inquisitive right? He made us to question things and then gets upset when we question?? Is He passive aggrssive or something? God believes in fairness for all right? No group should be elevated above another right? Well, what if Im born in the jungles of the Congo and have never heard of your God? If trying to convert me from my heathen religion, why should I bother to listen when you tell me to just take your word for it?

Perhaps noone has the true answer, but either way, any God that elevates one group over another doesnt seem so Godly to me really.

One thing you MUST keep in mind is over 2000 years ago it was a different life style, slavery was common place, women had no value, knowledge/books were not even common place, and people needed a "physical" god. This is why over and over people in the Old Testament people were caught holding/making physical gods when God went away for a time. This IMHO is why God showed himself in the way that he did early on to build the relationship with the Israelites and to educate large groups. Today the knowledge and information are there and you can believe in God or you can choose not too.

Oh...we get a Holy Spirit whom we cannot see, hear, feel unless we are baptized and give ourselves over. Huh, well...your government does the same right? You question your governments actions correct?

If so, youre violating the Bible since Jesus said " Render to Caeser what is Caesers" as well as " follow whichever government is in charge and its laws as youd follow me". Why dont you blindly accept what your government says then?

Not tryina start an argument, and i respect your answers, however, blindly following things is just not in our genetic code. We are human, we struggle with the question of why we are here daily. The only answer we get is a few vague prohecies that are open to interperetation? Why is it so fair that people of old had actual proof but we get a "holy spirit"?

If a group of people are shown nothing but evil their whole lives, that is what we will become. HE made us, he supposedly loves us all and yet, he put US at a severe disadvantage by allowing the Devil to run things while He sits back and does nothing to solidify our faith.

I know this sounds really silly, but get the children's book "The Jesus Storybook Bible." It is a beautiful book, but it also is amazing to read to see how EVERY story in the Bible points to Jesus. I don't know if they'd have it at a library, but maybe buy it and if you don't like it or when you are finished with it, give it to a child or donate it to a church or something.

Another good book that sheds some light on how the Bible comes together is "The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus."

Re: I really want a Christian to answer this...not a troll thread.
Check out Daniel's 70 weeks if you want your mind blown. But here is a little bit of why I believe in Jesus Christ as our Messiah. Isaiah 53 and the psalm 83 war the is about to happen have always moved me. God bless!

A prophecy is the future told in advance by God through a prophet.

Isaiah 48:2-5 [3] I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass. [4] For I knew how stubborn you were; the sinews of your neck were iron, your forehead was bronze. [5] Therefore I told you these things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you could not say, `My idols did them; my wooden image and metal god ordained them.'

"Isn't 'fulfilled prophecy' just a guess or luck or coincidence?"

2 Peter 1:19-21 [19] And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. [20] Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. [21] For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

"Does the Old Testament contain any prophecies about the Messiah?"

Yes! The Old Testament contains about FOUR HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE prophecies about the Messiah. Here is a small sample (in roughly chronological order):

GOD WOULD COME TO EARTH

BE BORN AS A HUMAN MALE

Isaiah 9:6-7 [6] For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. [7] Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. ... 700 B.C.

Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

John 1:1-3, 14 [1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was with God in the beginning. [3] Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. [14] The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

BORN OF A VIRGIN

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. 700 B.C.

Mattthew 1:20-23 [20] But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. [21] She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." [22] All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: [23] "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" --which means, "God with us."

FROM THE HOUSE OF JUDAH

Isaiah 37:31 Once more a remnant of the house of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above. 700 B.C.

Matthew 1:1-2, 16 [1] A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son [descendant] of David, the son of Abraham: [2] Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, [16] and [a later] Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

FROM THE ROOT AND STUMP OF JESSE

Isaiah 11:10 In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be glorious. 700 B.C.

Isaiah 11:1-5 [1] A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. [2] The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him-- the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD-- [3] and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; [4] but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. [5] Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist. 700 B.C.

Romans 15:12 And again, Isaiah says, "The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will hope in him."

Matthew 1:1-2a, 5-6, 16 [1] A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham: [2] Abraham was the father of Isaac, ... [5] ... Obed the father of Jesse, [6] and Jesse the father of King David. [16] and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

FROM THE HOUSE OF DAVID

Isaiah 16:5 In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it--one from the house of David--one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness. 700 B.C.

Matthew 1:1-2A, 6, 16 [1] A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham: [2] Abraham was the father of Isaac, ... [6] and Jesse the father of King David. [16] and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

BORN IN BETHLEHEM EPHRATHAH

Micah 5:2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. 700 B.C.

Matthew 2:1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem

Over the years there have been a number of "Bethlehems" in Israel. At the time of Jesus' birth, Bethlehem Ephrathah, referred to in Matthew as "Bethlehem in Judea", was a village about five miles south of Jerusalem, and there also was a town named Bethlehem about seven miles northwest of Nazareth. (Per footnote Matthew 2:1 of the Zondervan NIV Study Bible, 10th Anniversary Edition, (c) 1995)

BE FROM NAZARETH OF GALILEE

Isaiah 9:1-2 [1] Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan -- [2] The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. 700 B.C.

Matthew 2:22-23 [22] But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, [23] and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene."

Matthew 4:13-16 [13] Leaving Nazareth, he [Jesus] went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali-- [14] to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah: [15] "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, along the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles -- [16] the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned."

HIS BIRTH WOULD TRIGGER A MASSACRE OF INFANT BOYS

Jeremiah 31:15 This is what the LORD says: "A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because her children are no more." 625 B.C.

Matthew 2:16-18 [16] When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. [17] Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: [18] "A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more."

An interesting side note: most people think that Herod killed thousands of babies. However, Bethlehem was "in the boondocks." The chances are that less than thirty babies were killed.

COME OUT OF EGYPT

Hosea 11:1 When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son. 725 B.C.

Matthew 2:14-15 [14] So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, [15] where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son."

MISSION WOULD INCLUDE THE GENTILES

Isaiah 49:6 he [the Lord] says: "It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth." 700 B.C.

Isaiah 42:1-4, 6 [1] "Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations. [2] He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets. [3] A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; [4] he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his law the islands will put their hope." [6] "I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, 700 B.C.

Matthew 12:14-21 [14] But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus. [15] Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Many followed him, and he healed all their sick, [16] warning them not to tell who he was. [17] This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: [18] "Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. [19] He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets. [20] A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory. [21] In his name the nations will put their hope."

Note that in Biblical usage the Gentiles are often referred to as "the nations."

MINISTRY WOULD INCLUDE MIRACULOUS HEALINGS

Isaiah 29:18 In that day the deaf will hear the words of the scroll, and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see. 700 B.C.

Isaiah 35:5-6a [5] Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. [6a] Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. 700 B.C.

Luke 7:20-22 [20] When the men came to Jesus, they said, "John the Baptist sent us to you to ask, `Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?' " [21] At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. [22] So he replied to the messengers, "Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor."

MINISTRY WOULD DELIVER SPIRITUAL CAPTIVES

Isaiah 61:1-2 [1] The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, [2] to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 700 B.C.

Luke 4:16-21 [16] He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read. [17] The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: [18] "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, [19] to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." [20] Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, [21] and he began by saying to them, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

Not too shabby, considering it was His first sermon!

DESPISED AND REJECTED BY MEN

Isaiah 53:3 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 700 B.C.

The Crucifixion narratives in all four Gospels show this prophecy fulfilled.

HATED WITHOUT CAUSE

Psalm 69:4 Those who hate me without reason outnumber the hairs of my head; many are my enemies without cause, those who seek to destroy me. I am forced to restore what I did not steal. 1000 B.C.

Isaiah 49:7 This is what the LORD says-- the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel-- to him who was despised and abhorred by the nation, to the servant of rulers: "Kings will see you and rise up, princes will see and bow down, because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you." 700 B.C.

John 7:48-49 "Has any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? [49] No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law--there is a curse on them."

John 15:24-25 [24] If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. [25] But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: `They hated me without reason.'

REJECTED BY RULERS

Psalm 118:22 The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone [cornerstone of a building]; [23] the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. before 400 B.C.

Matthew 21:42 Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures:" `The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes' ?

John 7:48-49 Has any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? [49] No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law--there is a curse on them.

REJECTED BY HIS OWN BROTHERS

Psalms 69:8 I am a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my own mother's sons 1000 B.C.

(Side note: this pretty much kills the Catholic Church's claim that when the Gospels name Jesus' brothers they are talking about His cousins.)

Mark 3:20-21 [20] Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. [21] When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind."

John 7:1-5 [1] After this, Jesus went around in Galilee, purposely staying away from Judea because the Jews there were waiting to take his life. [2] But when the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles was near, [3] Jesus' brothers said to him, "You ought to leave here and go to Judea, so that your disciples may see the miracles you do. [4] No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world." [5] For even his own brothers did not believe in him.

BETRAYED FOR 30 PIECES OF SILVER

Zechariah 11:12 I told them, "If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it." So they paid me thirty pieces of silver. 500 B.C.

Matthew 26:14-15 [14] Then one of the Twelve--the one called Judas Iscariot--went to the chief priests [15] and asked, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?" So they counted out for him thirty silver coins.

SILVER RETURNED

SILVER USED TO BUY POTTER'S FIELD

Zechariah 11:12-13 [12] I told them, "If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it." So they paid me thirty pieces of silver. [13] And the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter"--the handsome price at which they priced me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the LORD to the potter. 500 B.C.

Matthew 27:3-10 [3] When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. [4] "I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood." "What is that to us?" they replied. "That's your responsibility." [5] So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself. [6] The chief priests picked up the coins and said, "It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money." [7] So they decided to use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners. [8] That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. [9] Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "They took the thirty silver coins, the price set on him by the people of Israel, [10] and they used them to buy the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me."

DISCIPLES WOULD SCATTER

Zechariah 13:7 "Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!" declares the LORD Almighty. "Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones." 500 B.C.

Matthew 26:31 Then Jesus told them, "This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written: " `I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'"

There's only a few examples out of many more I could write. My problem is WHERE ARE OUR Moses', Josephs, JESUS', burning bushes, big booming voices from the sky, healers of the blind, any true MIRACLES at all???

This link explains it rather well and better then I could honestly - www.gotquestions.org/God-hidden.html

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16499015

Um, im sorry, but the world was NOT different back then. In fact, over 2/3 of the current population believes women are inferior, believes books are bad, and slavery is bigger than it ever was. At least if youre gonna make excuses for God, come with something a bit better than that for crisake.

If you want to read research about whether the Resurrection has any basis in reality besides just accepting the words in the Bible, I recommend [link to www.bibleteacher.org] :
Greenleaf, one of the principle founders of the Harvard Law School, originally set out to disprove the biblical testimony concerning the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was certain that a careful examination of the internal witness of the Gospels would dispel all the myths at the heart of Christianity. But this legal scholar came to the conclusion that the witnesses were reliable, and that the resurrection did in fact happen.
 Quoting: source

Others have written about extra-biblical corroboration: [link to www.westarkchurchofchrist.org]

So far, God has spoken directly to people, who basically flipped Him off, so He stepped back. Then He appeared only to select individuals and promised that one day He Himself would come to set things right, which He did. But as He said, "They won't listen, even if someone rises from the dead."

What I'm saying is that God has already bent over backwards for the human race, but they aren't even impressed with a prophesied resurrection. What the heck do they want? Since Jesus came there are no more excuses; if we won't trust God then we don't deserve anything from Him.

No belief system, even secular ones, can get around the problem of being based ultimately upon a "given", an unprovable assumption. Everybody has "faith" at some point. So it's up to you to decide first of all how exactly you determine whether anything is true, and then what logical conclusions are derived from that. But it's your task to perform; nobody can spoon-feed it to you.
Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth? (Gal. 4:16)

OP. I can tell you my story. I believe in the Bible 100%. It is more reliable than any other book and with your intelligence, you know that. You are fighting your own questioning. You have read the Bible, or you know pretty much about it. You are trying to be your own savior. You can't be it. Let Christ be your Savior. Go ahead and try to believe it all. Humble yourself. That is the key...I promise. Admit to God you need a savior from your own questioning. It is VERY hard for people like yourself to do. But this world and everybody in it needs a Savior. When you truly want to believe, and can humble yourself, you become as strong as Him.
Then in your strength, you will realize all you needed was Him. I doubt you will do this and accept Him, but that is the answer. Godspeed!

Omg.

I didnt read the huge reply of word vomit the above poster just regurgitated from the exact book Im questioning.

By your logic, shall I instead follow Edward Cayce because he predicted a few things? Perhaps i should follow Nostradamus because he predicted a thing or two?

Listen, I appreciate your enthusiasm and faith dude, but anyone can give vague predictions about future wars and such. Given enough time passing, most will come true. Its war. Its always gonna be there.

Besides, youre skirting the issue of the thread as a whole. How do YOU get beyond God seemingly abandoning you when you need Him most?

Take me. Im on the fence, as are billions of others...searching for something bigger to believe in. One miracle is all it would take to get peeps in line, just one. That seems like a small price to ask of a God who puts us here in the hopes we find Him before the Devil finds us. A seemingly unfair proposition since the Devil is working overtime and God seems on a rather long vacation.

Kinda redundant in my opinion.

God is not the one who left. He sent Jesus as the final solution. Some like yourself have simply rejected that. In your own post, you cited and accepted as historical several of the Biblical characters and events, but pointedly rejected Jesus. What is “bugging” you as you put it is not a failing on God’s part, but an rejection on yours.

What good would another burning bush do? It isn’t about what you see with your eyes. Even the plagues didn’t change Pharaoh’s heart. It is about what you believe in your heart. It is about your soul that knows and understands things your brain doesn’t necessarily have to be able to process. You want to see and understand God? Then open you heart and stop depending on your eyes. His truth is there if you will only believe.
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

Huh, a faith healer. I wonder what the Bible says of people who claim to weild the power of God? You know the Bible, so you know that faith healers or healers of any kind are said to be works of the...DEVIL.

Im afraid the exact book you are toting explicitly says anyone doing such things in the end times are not of GODS WORD.

Care to share how you get around that? Lol
