not weird, it's math, and it it doesn't matter what size you use, because the least step is where you get your age from

Is it me, or do cocky, preppy math experts always confuse things for the rest of us...like as if they're tryng to protect some kind of ancient, esoteric knowledge that they want to keep the rest of us DOWN with???...

If you use 1 instead of your shoe size, it comes up to 2012' then minus the year comes of course your age.

You needs to readjust your maths

it almost got my shoe size right 10 instead of 10.5 and it says I'm 93...not even close

I have to repeat this: I did not come-up with the formula! I haven't even trid it neither; and as for the last line in the thread-opener that is written in "Bold", I didn't write that—I just copied it from off the sheet I was given.

Okay, I apologize because I did the math wrong. It does work. However, it's still deceptively worded.

"Shoe size" is irrelevant. This works with whatever number you plug in. The formula is rigged so that the first two digits will always be the digits you started with.

The last two are rigged as well. The first three steps (multiply by 5, add 50, multiply by 20), will always ensure that you have a number that ends in 00. So when you add 1012, the number will always end in 12. So when you subtract the year you were born, you always get your age for the last two digits.

So if you were born in 1978...

2112-1978=134
3012-1978=1034
2012-1978=34

There's nothing esoteric or magical. It's just the only way it could work.

It didn't work for me. It will be right in about 2 weeks. So, on Jan 1 it will be wrong for most of the year again. Nice find anyway.

If I have to figure in the year I was born then my show size has nothing to do with it.

You don't have to be a cocky, preppy, math expert to know that this is a parlour trick. What will step 5 be next year? 1013. If you used last year's step 5, 1011, then the formula would be wrong for this year.

You too, can invent a formula to mystify folks that don't think quickly.

43 * 5 + 50 *20 + 1012 - 1988

= 4324

If you did that last year and used 11, you would get the same result, next year change that to 13, get the point?
