Memory foam pillow is giving me a headache
Anyone notice headaches with their new memory foam pillow ? The
Chemical smell went away after I let it air out a few hours however I get an instant headache whenever I use the pillow.

Re: Memory foam pillow is giving me a headache
The pillows are filled with poison.

Look into it - they're very unhealthy.

I would recommend using the pillows as they're great for support - however give it a couple months to breath somewhere that's not in your face.

I swear by a buckwheat or rice pillow. Perfect support and cool in the summer.

Re: Memory foam pillow is giving me a headache
I have one but don't think it is comfortable (gives me neck pain, which gives me a headache), but they sell pillow cases that will block (some? most? a few?) chemicals from coming out of it. I bought a mattress cover like that for my kids' mattresses. Keeps chemicals, mold, etc., from seeping out. I got it on amazon. It's like hypoallergenic but blocks more than just allergens, or so they claim. Or maybe they just parted this fool with her money. But it might be worth a try rather than just stop using it since they are a little bit pricey.

Had a new memoryfoam mattress recently. It gave me wicked headaches. The headaches were ended as soon as I returned the mattress.

Re: Memory foam pillow is giving me a headache
When I first purchased a tempurpedic mattress the smell was horrible and it was making me sick but I loved the bed

I found out that the best way to get rid of the smell was to walk on the mattress as much as I could.

It didn't take long afterwards for the smell to disappear

If you like the pillow I would suggest crushing, folding, and/or walking on the pillow as much as you can.

Otherwise I would just return it.

Re: Memory foam pillow is giving me a headache
Get rid of it. I had a memory foam mattress for 5 years. Throughout that time I couldn't breathe through my nose at night. My sinuses would be swollen shut.

I started suspecting the mattress because whenever I would go on a trip and stay in a motel on a regular mattress I could breathe fine.

I shit-canned my mattress recently and that very night I began to breathe fine.

Get rid of it.

Re: Memory foam pillow is giving me a headache
Certain people are highly allergic to those types of pillows ranging from mild symptoms to something that sent me rushing across town in the middle of the night to help my mother who called feeling like she was going into anaphylactic shock with dizziness, difficulty breathing, etc...

My son loves his and hasn't had any kind of reaction, I have a king-sized memory foam topper and haven't had any problems either. They're full of chemicals that are in a constant state of decay (think soft plastics going brittle) and release decreasing amounts of those chemicals over time. Luck of the draw on reactions though.

I've heard that latex is a decent option if you're not allergic to it, made from rubber trees, at least it has some organic properties that mimic the more toxic synthetic foams.
