Big guberment trying to bail out it's own ass will do well from ObamaCare. Hospitals will have to deal with so much more cost and regulation to provide care over what they already have to deal with as a result of insurance and guberment regulation, as well as litigation.

Decisions to grow or cut are made by people who have to account for profit/loss and deal with budget deficits by cutting, unlike the guberment who can spend to infinity and beyond. They don't cut unless it's absolutely necessary. They can see that ObamaCare is a net cost to the hospital so large as to have to cut EXISTING staff, before the real burden of ObamaCare hits in 2014-2016.

Nursing students down the street at UCF (Orlando) are worried about their futures like they haven't worried before. They should be.

Kaiser Permanente said the layoffs — constituting about eight-tenths of one percent of it employees — would be spread across its 65,700 employees and doctors working in offices and hospitals from Kern County to the Mexican border. Under its union contracts, the laid-off employees who are in unions will get income and benefits for a year. Many may also be rehired next year, when Kaiser Permanente expects “significant membership growth.”

Besides, Obama says it's the British system he is going for, the one that lets over a hundred thousand elderly die each year of preventable deaths because it is not cost effective.

My friends in France hire a private physician off the record because the healthcare is such a joke. Blackmarket healthcare? And it costs like anything to do that but it's the only way they can get adequate care.

You are missing quite a lot. About 16 million will have coverage, much of which will come from state medicaid and will eventually become an unfunded mandate to the states.

It forces insurance companies to take all pre-existing conditons and that alone can break the private insurances when they can no longer have any say over who they insure.

Obamacare will underpay hopitals and physicians the way Medicare and Medicaid often do now and they can't absord the cost.

And it leaves another 16 million without insurance.

The idea is to put the private insurances out of business so there in only the government plan left.

And the care must be "cost effective" without regard to available treatments and technology today. That's code for panels that will deny care should it be deemed the results are often not successful or the person too old or whatever, has bad lifestyles and so forth.

Patient load will adjust to the healthcare resources available.
In short a lot of people are going to get laid off and then people will die and few lawyers will get rich , then doctors will start saying fuck it and more people will die.

Healthcare premiums have already gone up $2500 a year so I don't understand what you mean that people will "actually be able to buy insurance" if they can't already with the prices rising like this.

And many if not most hospitals are tax-funded and not for profit in the first place so you are a bit confused as to their motives. It's not as though they even expect to make a profit. if tax-funded.

They are ALREADY losing money and can't afford to treat people at the Medicare/Medicaid rate of payment. And certainly not anything like we are accustomed to treatment being tin this country. Maybe a third world treatment is OK with some but I liked things the way they were much better, seeing an actual physician instead of just a nurse for example.

TALLAHASSEE — Nearly 2,000 state workers are being displaced from Gov. Rick Scott's administration because of the nation's biggest outsourcing of prison health care.

"Due to the outsourcing of this function, your position will be deleted," reads a dryly worded dismissal notice from the Department of Corrections, sent to 1,890 state employees in the past two weeks.
