Grew up in a racist household and now work in an all black ghetto day in and day out ... Mostly drug dealers, low life, criminals. Real pillars to society... That being said how can I become a non-racist. I would like help
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17116676 I am 50+ and white, I had the same issue and plus my parents were huge racists, Mom was from Louisana and Dad was from Mississippi.
I had a lot of trouble getting over it as it was taught to me from birth, even had a black sister and brother as friends in Jr. high school, when Mom found out she broke everything in my bedroom up.
What helped with me is I am not really color prejudice any more, but I have a HUGE prejudice with rude people and stupid people.
Rude and stupid comes in all colors so shifting your prejudice since you are finding it hard to "cure" helped me the most and was relatively easy to do.
Color prejudice is kind of silly when you think about it, because:
Animals and pets come in all colors.
Clothes and shoes come in all colors.
Food comes in all colors.
Cars come in all colors.
and
Flowers and Butterflys come in all colors.
Life would be pretty boring if everything was just one color. Beige kind of sucks after awhile. :)
Goodluck!
